Zombie MMORPG

If my group and I were to develop a zombie MMO that is all about survival, in which there are rare situations of meeting other people in the same large world... To where it allows you to decide whether you should fight them, take their territory, or group together... Would you play it? Would you pay monthly for it?

So to summarize, would you play the following zombie mmo?

* Huge world, you'll rarely meet another player (to make it more realistic)
* Survival attributes, such as strength, thirst, building defenses, etc.
* Must pay monthly $5-$15 depending on content available.

i say free because:

1. why would i pay when i rarely see anybody
2. and survival games like that tend to be annoying... like in minecraft, when on minute you're alone and the next minute you have 6 zombies and like 2 creepers are on your butt..

but i would play it.... i wouldnt legally though; unless everybody tells me otherwise..... B/C i tend not to buy games without getting refferences..

Wouldn't play an MMO legally... so in other words you'd be the kid with an annoying bot that does nothing but "mines" and makes money off it for 2 days until the server bans your account and/or IP? If you mean "pirate it" that's much easier to avoid with online server-based games than it is with at-home games. Easy example: Diablo 3.

The reason many MMO's have some form of payment is because the servers are huge costs and the overall profit the company makes off the MMO is not much. You'll always see two things, if not both, in MMO's: 1.) Monthly costs, 2.) Purchasable items with real money. I'd rather only have the former since the latter is really unfair for many people and actually turns people away from an mmo faster than the former.

Why not have free accounts that give just the basics of the game, and then premium accounts that you pay a monthly/yearly ammount to unlock the full game with all the features

I hope you guys don't plan on spending a lot of money on this thing. There are TONS of MMOs that have totally failed and died off (mostly due to WoW) that could've succeeded with better planning

I'd say go with the option of having players make free accounts, but like Ram said, limit what they could do with it. Have some areas and weapons available to those who pay (but they don't pay FOR the weapons, they pay for more access to the game so to speak)

Buy-to-win MMOs are stupid, but if you pay to get the full thing, I don't see anything wrong with that

Well, that's more of a given if anything. Any successful mmo has done that and that's not something I'd skip lol. No reason to make them pay before they even get to try the game

And this whole MMO idea is just an idea right now. There hasn't been real planning yet and if it's something we definitely wanna do, you can expect a LOOOT of planning. And probably observing other players in mmo's by playing them and seeing what they all like best about whatever they're playing.

I'll let you know in a few years if we do plan to do something like this
