It is possible to get cluttered with too many sidequests, though. An example for too many sidequests would be FFX-2. I thought there were way too many side missions jumbled in with the main missions. It got to the point where I wasn't even sure what would be best to do next.

Well I hope a single opinion doesn't encourage whether or not you buy a game lol. Anyway, it seems like Square got the idea that FFX was too linear and decided to make the sequel incredibly open ended. IMO, the story for X-2 was pretty awful, especially when compared to FFX - but the gameplay was very fun. It had a killer Active Time Battle System that was really fun. Just don't expect to get 100% for the "good" ending on your first run since it's so easy to miss percentage points in the game. If you want the good ending, I recommend completing the game once, and then going through the game once more with the 'New Game +' Feature and use a guide off of gamefaqs or something.

Well, I think it really depends on how you add the side quests into the game. Like if Legaia 2 had 200 extra side quests - it wouldn't be too many.. Actually I'd wish they had that lol. But I understand what you're saying with too many quests. I think it just depends on how you do it. :)

It's kinda funny when you think about how FFXIII turned out.
Red: I've seen a 10-way.
Ram: That's how I met your mother, Red.
