Legend of Legaia (No G Shops, No Item/Magic Healing)

Post by SuperSonicFan411 » Sat Jul 29, 2017 10:42 pm

I am in the process of doing a challenge in which I, as the name of the topic suggests, attempt to complete the game (not 100%) without buying from any shops that use G and only being able to heal using Inns or events in which I am forced to heal (e.g. going downstairs after defeating Berserker in Jeremi). This means the rules are:
1. No Healing (excluding inn)
2. G cannot be used for shops (But G can be used for Inns, Sol Fever Disco, etc.). This also limits me to have to get Door of Winds through the use of the Evil God Icon.
3. Items can be obtained through any method excluding shops that use G (this means the fishing spots, coin shops, etc. can be used)

I will be uploading videos of the challenge specifically on bosses, showing what equipment I have equipped beforehand (I unfortunately forgot to in the first video. Sorry about that).

Here is the first battle against Caruban.

I will continue to post videos on this topic as well as on this youtube playlist:

Let me know if you have any questions through this topic, YouTube comments, or on discord (you can find me on the Legaia Discord server).

Here is the battle against the bees (the successful attempt was right after West Voz Forest, while the failed attempts were right after Caruban).

-- Sun Jul 30, 2017 4:00 am --

Here is the battle against the two Viguros in East Voz Forest. I have also done this battle without armor or weapons and plan to upload that battle soon.

-- Sun Jul 30, 2017 6:48 pm --

Here is Viguro x2 without any armor or weapons. I also decided to this without accessories. It was still easy and barely a difference between this battle and the earlier battle.

And here is the rest of the bosses in Drake Kingdom, Songi (round 1) and Zeto. In case anyone was wondering, because I had forgotten to record Songi (round 1) and ended up loading my save file there after defeating Zeto, Gala's HP was higher for the battle against Zeto.

Songi (Round 1)

Zeto

Here is the first boss battle in Sebucus Islands against Berserker. Other than a noticeable increase in difficulty at this point in the game and after, I don't have much to say here.

Here is Xain. Really easy battle.

Here are the rest of the bosses in Sebucus Islands (Songi Round 2, Kemaro, Van Saryu, Dohati)

Songi (Round 2)

Kemaro x2

Kemaro x2 (No Armor and Weapons)

I have uploaded both Gaza battles. Here they are:

Gaza (Round 1)

Gaza (Round 2)

Sorry for the long wait. I have now completed the three battles against the delilases, all in one video.

Love it man. I think challenges are fantastic in this game.

I quite like the no seru challenge.

You can check out some of the speedrun strategies that I have posted; maybe they can give some ideas of how to proceed with this challenge since it functions much like a low-level challenge and therefore eschews a lot of the stuff that is very useful in a casual playthrough.
Do not question yourself with the why or the how. I simply am, and that is all you need to know.

Hey, thanks for the reply!
I actually know about these strategies and I have seen plenty of them used on your speedruns on stream (DriftingSkies, right?), but I actually prefer to go the long way when I play this game. Sure, I could have proceeded through the game a lot quicker at times, but doing these long farming periods makes me feel more confident that I can beat the challenge. Thanks for reminding me of these, anyway :)

Well, the things that I wanted to point out were how elixirs stack; this can be a major boon in the late game in order to do a lot of damage very quickly. This is going to be really important for the last couple of bosses, where the damage piles on very quickly and you won't have much in the way of healing. Also, shield elixirs are nice.

Just a couple of suggestions for late game:

When you get to Mt. Dhini, the Ironman enemies have a 5% steal rate of Life Water and a 3% drop rate of Power Water. Those may be extremely good enemies to grind on for the late game; you can get 1 Evil God Icon from the Sol Slots (10000 coins) and another as a treasure in Floating Castle. Note that blocking attacks is based on your ATK stat and your SPD stat, so the Power Water drops double as defensive items.

Slippery L2 and L3 both drop Lost Grails at a 1% probability. Free auto-heal might be necessary for Final Songi and JuggerCort, since that and Life Grail are going to be the only healing you get.

Just a couple of suggestions going forward.

Oh, right. I am planning to farm for waters, starting in Sol Tower. Also, I will only use Lost Grails if I really have to, even at Level 99, and I am not going to use Life/Magic Grails because I feel like they ruin the purpose of the challenge I am doing. As for the elixirs, yes, I know they stack, but I have not really needed them yet. I do plan to use them, especially for the bosses after the Delilases, because these are the bosses that can usually do a high amount of damage with their magic attacks regardless of defense.

With that in mind, I really appreciate the suggestions you gave me :D

Apologies for not uploading recently. I have uploaded the rest of the videos for Sebucus Islands and will be edited into the first post soon.

I am surprised that you aren't getting Juggernaut Magic early. Would really trivialize the bosses through Jette.

The thing is, I did XD
I just thought twice about using it. I decided not to because, well, the Seru I use are doing a lot of damage (Even Freed and Gizam lol). Also, at the point that I am in the game now (not in the videos, as I am in Nivora Ravine in the game), I am already more than halfway to Level 99, so if I actually do get there (Let's be real, I probably will if I leveled up that much for Caruban), I'll start using the Evil Medallion. My predictions are that I will be Level 99 after farming waters in Mount Dhini or Jette's Absolute Fortress.
