It does confirm my suspicions that the Bronze Book has a really big impact on how likely you are to get an item drop. The fact that water drops are basically 1/3 with it is pretty big at getting those items. Also, I seem to recall that Iota L2 drops a Spirit Talisman - any chance you can get the drop rate on that? (I presume 1-3% without the Book, but I'd like to see a sure thing if you have the time.)

Also, another thing that has been bugging me. Suppose that you are fighting two different enemies in one battle. If you successfully get a drop on both enemies, how does the game determine which item you actually receive?

I did look at the Spirit Talisman since it was a rare drop, but I didn't write it down. I know it was either 1 or 3% so I'll have to confirm when I finish the rest of the list.

Good thinking, I wanted to test that too but ran out of time. I can find that out quite easily but I'm guessing it rolls the RNG on the first enemy and if you win, it stops rolling, or rerolls and overwrites the item won. Or, even better, possibly rewards you with all items but only displays one? I will find out soon enough!

Yeah. One of the things that I do know is that if you already have 99 of an item, it can't give you that item. I use that to help push up the likelihood of a Power Water drop when fighting the Ironman enemy on Mt. Dhini (most of the other enemies drop Magic Fruit, I think.)

Okay I figured it all out. This is a weird way that they do it too!

It does roll on multiple items, but you only get one. It is in order of the enemies that appear in battle, and if you win the drop for Killer Bison, then win the roll for Oak Slime, the Oak Slime's item is the one that you end up with! It overrides the winning item. It keeps the item ID in a register (CPU's memory, not the playstation's memory) until the rolling is done.

Also, bad news Nightshade, your trick will not work. Once it's done figuring out the winning item, it then loops through the inventory and checks for the existing item and quantity. Aka having 99 will be too late at that point, the game already decided you will win the item. It also doesn't matter which order you kill things in because it just loops through the enemy slots in battle. Now that I think about it, I forgot to see if the battle message indicates you won an item you can't carry.

And to answer your question Nightshade, it will not tell you that you won an item if you have 99 of it already. I passed the roll on both drops but had 99 of each item and it skipped reporting "Your party now has the _____!"

Lmao! the the the the's rat. Nice work mate, it's amazing what you can do looking into the code and whatnot. Kind of surprised Spirit Talisman and Lost Grails are only 1%, felt more like 50%(with bronze book) I would get them left and right but I guess it's actually just 31%. Which is still a 1/3 basically so that's still a lot I guess.

Yup, and you must have good luck! 31% is pretty high though. Could feel like 50% if you're lucky and like 10% if you're not I suppose.
