I know fighting games ain't the most popular genre around here, but they're hype af and the manliest genre so I'll make a topic anyway, even if it's only for myself.


News-wise, megaton announcement: Capcpom makin' Street Fighter V, and it's lookin' to be a PS4 and PC exclusive. Based on the teaser that leaked, 's lookin' like a much-prettier version'a SFIV/SFxT's artstyle:

's still early, as the only footage we've got is from a teaser that wasn't s'pose' to come out just yet (whoopsie-daisies).

I'm beyond hyped, since SF is one'a my favorite gaming franchises of all time, and lately I've been replayin' SFIII: Third Strike, so I'm still on that Dragon Punch high.

Capcom's been leadin' up to this for awhile now, particularly with the last SFIV edition -- Ultra, as well as an Omega mode in which they gave a bunch'a characters a bunch'a new moves, likely as testin' grounds for new mechanics for V.

Of course, some fans're concerned about Capcom's recent financial troubles and pissin' everyone off 'cause'a business decisions. Fans've also been wonderin' about how this game fits inna the story of the franchise (yes SF has a story btw) and others've sworn off buyin' this first edition due to the likelihood Capcom'll just end up makin' multiple follow-up editions later on.

I'm hyped, personally, as I love the franchise and a new fighter's always good, 'specially after the original vanilla SFIV brought about the fighting game renaissance in 2008/2009 that we're still in.



Anybody got any thoughts on this? Any SF fans in this forum? Anybody who doesn't care for the franchise wanna speak up about why?

But yeah. Topic ain't just about SFV, so go ahead and talk about anything related to fighting games, if y'all got anything'da say. Smash 4, Tekken 7, Mortal Kombat X, Guilty Gear Xrd, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Pokkén Tournament, etc -- lot to talk about.

Now that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax came out the game i'm most looking forward to is MKX. SFV looks good tho and i'll likely end up getting it so that I can spam Blanka, Honda and Bison.

EDIT: My roommate has the new Smash and it's as good as ever. I can spam Metaknight to my hearts content!

Now that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax came out the game i'm most looking forward to is MKX. SFV looks good tho and i'll likely end up getting it so that I can spam Blanka, Honda and Bison. XD

Oh yeah, you're a big Persona/SMT guy, right? Radical. Ultimax is hype as the the the the, and I still play it. Who do you play as? I main Junpei and Kanji, and I also sub Akihiko and Aigis.

I also bought a bunch'a the BGM tracks 'cause Persona music's the GOAT.

Bison's dope, and I played 'im in IV pretty often. Never really touched Blanka or Honda though.

MKX's lookin' awesome as the the the the. Just hopin' those rumors'a Ermac'n Reptile comin' back're true, since those two were my mains in 9, although I can adjust to whoever. Kano looks cool this time around too.

You see that Quan Chi Fatality? CHRIST. He continues to have the raddest ones.

The only fighting game I really play is Smash, because it's the only one I'm good at.

Smash's fun too, and I'm diggin' 4 a whole lot, 'specially now that I got Little Mac and Ike looks like fuggin' GUTS. I'm not big on Nintendo so in 64 and Melee I kinda struggled to find peeps I really liked. Falcon and Kirby kinda filled that for a time, but they didn't feel quite right. Then Brawl gave manly Ike so I was set. Now 4 comes in with a boxer character and then ups Ike's manliness and now I'm uber set.

Meta Knight's pretty rad as well.

I mostly use Mega Man. There's 49 characters this time around (and 50 next year), so you're sure to find someone you like if plan to buy get it.

I sub Mega Man as well. He's cool, but he's kinda awkward for me, and he doesn't hit like a grown こし man.

She looks great, although I'm still stickin' with main man TJ. 'm lookin' for a sub though, and a DINOSAUR's a rad choice.

Pikachu for ALL SSB games bruh (though they SIGNIFICANTLY powered'em down this time around). It's got enough power and it's speed is unmatched (except by Sonic, who if you max. his speed in the costume options, will run off the field and to his death before you even think about pressing one of the directional buttons). I have no second because Pikachu.

Maaaaane, Ike is wack. Bruh's definitely got the manly and power aspects, but his vertical recover is... he has none. And his speed is... he doesn't use/need it. Bruh just doesn't feel all that well rounded.

Screw all flying opponents (except Charizard, who really just glides around). Kirby is too OP (I can take'em down with a thunder and quick attack though).

I also heard the kid from that Icarus game got a lil too much spot light time (which got some people angry).

Lil Mac's dope. 'Specially since he can avoid a helluva lotta attacks, and he's OP as HECK at max. strength.

And they're fine. He's one'a the heavy characters, so he doesn't fly away nearly as easily. And you can equalize things by the fact that he hits harder than everybody else so you need relatively less hits to kill everyone else whereas they need more.

Yeah if you're a scrub who runs around and gets hit. There're plenty'a mobility options, plus blocks, rolls, throws, and counters, and the aforementioned hitting people way harder than they do to kill 'em before you get killed.
