Do you plan on leveling up to LVL. 99?

Just got there today, maxed my INT as well. Put 90% of my life waters on Vahn to see if 9999 is the max for HP(it is).

I was wondering if you can test a hypothesis for me. Specifically, that damage dealt to your party doesn't tend to zero as your defense hits 999. I have a suspicion that the more powerful enemies in the game will still do a couple hundred damage to you, but without a really high defense file, I can't prove that definitively.

Surprisingly even with Vahn's high defense he takes almost the exact same damage as Noa and Gala from enemies assuming he doesn't block. He doesn't block as much as I thought he would with such a high defense stat either. Also I don't think magic damage is reduced but I will run some tests and check a few things out. Pretty sure even if UDF, LDF do anything it's a pretty small effect. Of note though is at 999 ATK I'm hitting for about 6-7k, throw on a power ring and I'm actually hitting for 8-9k. I tested that a lot so for some reason even at 999 ATK, power ring seems to give you more somehow.

Now that Evil Seru Magic can be obtained without maxing out your levels, I no longer see a reason to get to lvl. 99.

Meth ran some tests, Evil Seru Magic at lvl 9 with 999 INT did I think he said 25k damage. Miracle arts with War God Icon, War Soul, and Power Ring at 999 ATK did I think 50k. So if you are looking for the most damage, ATK is actually better but you could probably max ATK without getting to LVL 99 also. I just did it for completion since I always wanted to max my INT, wanted to find out for sure if 9999 was max HP, and my other LVL 99 file on my console was deleted years ago because I thought it was corrupted (Now I don't think it was, my console problem is more than likely scratches on the disk).

But if you aren't doing a completionist run, and use that glitch then there aren't many reasons to get to LvL 99 I guess.

I forgot to mention on a level up, the game checks if hp < 10,000, all stats < 1,000 and agility is < 281. It otherwise sets these maximums. I am sure using stat waters has the same check.
