Re: Legend of Legaia MMO
I don't think it would work. Though my explanation is gonna be crap until someone can engage me in a debate about it.
Legaia, first off, was in itself no where NEAR expansive enough to create an environment big enough for a MMO, and expanding it is just something that's straight up out of our league (no matter how great you may think you are). And by hard I don't mean just the amount of programming it will require, I mean the amount of time it will take (and the lack of time we HAVE in our lives), the amount of updating it would require should it work, the amount of money it will require to maintain, the publicity, etc.
The best option, really, would be to work at creating Legaia 3, or at least remaking Legend of Legaia and Duel Saga (I'm already working on that), and THEN worrying about the extra ideas, like creating an anime for the game (which a lot of people are already in favor of), maybe a TGC, etc.

Legaia is already a pretty decent size. If we merged together both games' Legaias, it wouldn't be too much smaller than a typical MMO.

Think about that. Take a REALLY deep breath and think about that. Can the current map handle thousands of people.GoldenPower89 wrote:Legaia is already a pretty decent size.
The two games contradict too much; if it were really that simple, we'd have several plots for a third game already (plots that I would've created). If we merged together both games' Legaias, it wouldn't be too much smaller than a typical MMO.

I could see it being done, and would be a lot of fun. Stop thinking about resizing the map, or it's current size. Use the same map, but expand the time/content needed to cross that map. Then enter standard MMO myriads of NPCs along the path from Rim Elm to Drake Kingdom (quest hubs in the form of camps, etc) and you have plenty of stuff to build you up for Drake Castle.
Not sure how to spin MMO players though. Everyone has ra-seru, everyone is a copy of vahn/noa/gala, or everyone is normal citizens with some way to survive in the mist and/or absorb seru. I've never played Legaia2 so I'm not sure how that game differs from the first.
I definitely like the idea of an MMO of the world filled with mist, and having to build up to go further into said mist. How to clear it though...use phasing? Not sure but that's as far as I get thinking about it

The maps would be plenty big, however the content would need improvement. You could have a main questline that is basically the same as Legaia, clear the mist from towns, destroy mist generators etc. or it could even be different but then you would also have to add tons of sidequests. There would need to be like an NPC outside of Rim Elm wanting you to find his lost lemur or something, and one at Mt. Rikuroa looking for his pet sabrecat (then again there would have to be something story-wise that allows them to be there since normal humans can't be in the mist for very long.) Also putting a bunch of people on one map is no problem, for one you walk through people like they are ghosts so they can stack up and there is lots of space plus if it did become an mmo it would probably need to have multiple servers. The mmo I play now has like 5 servers(Atlantica Online). I think it could easily be done size/content- wise but the actual programming and team needed to make such a project would probably have to be moderate to large(plus necessary funding) Another pitfall is copyright. What could you use from the game and what couldn't you. I wouldn't think you could use the exact same town names, character names, storyline, etc. without getting in trouble with copyrights. But assuming someone was going to make this maybe they could get permission from the makers, other than technically they don't exist anymore, I think that Konami was absorbed into square enix but I don't know how any of that works.

Re: Legend of Legaia MMO
... Y'all just basically said what I did, except for the size of the game.
An MMO the size of legaia would (logically) be completed in about the same time as Legaia, unless, as you guys mentioned, add some sidequests.
Adding as many sidequests as the second game could potentially help expand the game, but I doubt anyone with any experience on this site wants to constantly update/create/expand any more than the original game had to offer without income.
Basically, doesn't matter how much you guys want it or how much you think it might work, the numbers just ain't in anyone's favor.

There's no need to be negative about it. We can dream... and maybe someday, someone with a lot of experience and time on their hands will fulfill that dream.Redhollowlives999 wrote:Basically, doesn't matter how much you guys want it or how much you think it might work, the numbers just ain't in anyone's favor.

It's not being "negative", it's just looking at it realistically. Don't wanna get my hopes up.GoldenPower89 wrote:There's no need to be negative about it. We can dream... and maybe someday, someone with a lot of experience and time on their hands will fulfill that dream.
