Gothic 1, 2 are you a fan?
These games where made in 2001 and 2002 for the PC, if you have not guessed i am a huge fan of them myself. If you are familiar with the series at all you are also aware that they also made Gothic 3 and Gothic 4 but i and a number of other fans of the originals dislike the newer ones. I made this topic as a general discussion about the games so feel free to chit-chat, ask questions if you have never played the games and whatever else. As i have played both extensively i am sure i can answer at least almost any question you could ask.
The reasons why i love the originals especially the first one is because the story is great and there are multiple story paths, but the story paths vary more in the second one. However regardless they are fun games that are comparable to elder scrolls in game-play style.

I've never played them but I do love me some Elder Scrolls. I'll try to check them out some time.

I tried out Gothic 3 but stopped playing after 10 or so minutes. Can't remember why, just got bored of it extremely fast... no offense lol.

It all depends what games you have played, was it the Oblivion and Skyrim elder scrolls? Because it is far more similar to Morrowind than the other elder scrolls, but essentially in the first Gothic the different story paths dont differ much it just changes how you get to the finish line. However both games are very heavily story driven and when you level you got so many points to spend on whatever you want to get up. What makes these games so great is that the world is free range, beautifully built, well voiced, well written, good game-play, well written, and has a decent variety of play styles but keep in mind that i say Gothic 3 and 4 suck.Vahn926 wrote:Well i dont like the elder scrolls games so i probably wouldn't like these games, can you explain them a little bit!?

None taken at all i am really OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) about completing games that i start, and yet i still could not bring myself to beat Gothic 3 that game for all intensive purposes, sucked.
EDIT: It's a pc game

doesn't surprise me they are considered cult classics now, as a result not all that many people have actually played them.JCTC wrote:Never played it.
