Fighting the Bees (mini boss in Rim Elm)
Fighting the Bees (mini boss in Rim Elm)
So I noticed that under the "bosses" tab in Legend of Legaia, the description for Bees mentions how difficult this fight is. I've never had difficulty with this fight, and I figured I would share why. So before the fight starts you can equip any accessories that nullify venom to everyone (if you only have one, I would suggest putting it on Noa). The bees get to attack first, so just wait until you can select your actions. Then make Noa do "Tough Love" (v,^,v,<,>) to all the bees BUT ONE (I usually fight Queen Bee last because she's the hardest to kill). "Tough Love" makes them attack other enemies or skips their turn entirely. Just make sure you don't hit them otherwise the effect will go away. If the bees attack each other just use "Tough Love" on the bee that you're not attacking at the moment. While Noa is using "Tough Love" for the next 3 turns, Vahn and Gala should use spirit and heal everyone with items. When all but one of the bees are under Noa's spell, kill them one by one.

Nice strategy. The fight can be difficult, depending on how early you choose to fight the bees, and without magic, you're stuck using items to heal.

Thank you c: yea I wouldn't recommend fighting the bees until Noa has 5 art blocks (which I believe is around level 10). Doing it before then would be awful

I'm pretty sure you can fight the bees before you even get Gala. I wanna try that! I doubt I'll win, but whatever.

You can fight the bees with just Vahn. Good luck winning tho.

Yup, as soon as you leave Rim Elm for the first time, you can fight them.
Nearly impossible to do it with just Vahn though. >__<

it really do be like that tho
Re: Fighting the Bees (mini boss in Rim Elm)
You might be able to win with the two of them if Noa can do Tough Love without charging by then... Trying before then might be a waste of time and items o.o'

Yeah, mostly when you're able to use Tough Love, you'll either be: Be strong enough to beat them anyways, or, you still won't be fast enough to use it.

Maybe if you shove swift waters in Noa's face she'll be fast enough at a lower level. O_O

Is that realistically an option? There aren't a ton of Swift Waters in the game as it is, and there's only one that you can get before you get to Octam, and by then, your party is probably strong enough already to fight the Bees without needing Noa to outspeed them.Diamond00 wrote:Maybe if you shove swift waters in Noa's face she'll be fast enough at a lower level. The bees have a speed stat of 188, so they're pretty fast for that point in the game; The Viguro mini-boss only have a speed of 73 and often go before a level 7-8 Noa as it is.
I'm not sure the exact mechanics of turn order, but I think it's something to the effect of:
Compare SPD + Random(0,...,63)*, highest value goes first, then repeat from highest draw to lowest.
* Not sure about 63 there; could be something else, but that's the basic idea.
As for using Tough Love without charging, she would need an agility stat of at least 150 to do so; given that she starts with an AGL of 125 (I think?), that wouldn't take too many levels to get; she will generally get to 190 AGL by level 19 or so, which is about what is needed to use a Miracle Art with Spirit.
Do not question yourself with the why or the how. I simply am, and that is all you need to know.
