I never played FF10-2; yet. I am familiar with the plot however. Interesting battle system, but I think FF surpass it. But I'm not sure yet.
it really do be like that tho

...Do you mean X?

If so, I agree. But barely. X was amazing and up there with Legaia as my favorite turn-based system. It was just absolutely brilliant and smooth and simple yet really fun and it never got boring.

FFX-2 is close. I also enjoyed XII's.

I agree with the FFX-2 battle system being one of the best. Not only is it super smooth for an ATB, the fact that you can switch jobs mid-battle Sailor Moon style is mega awesome. I guess you could do that with FFX too more or less since you can switch characters and each character starts out with what seems like a typical Final Fantasy classic job. But this switching ability becomes less useful once you've taken all your characters around the Sphere Grid (except for Yuna with her summoning).

The only minor qualm I have with FFX-2 is that it is highly highly highly feminized. Even for me and I'm usually the last person to complain about feminine stuff. For example, jobs are basically called Dresspheres. And the things you put these spheres on (kinda like the Sphere Grid from FFX) are called the Garment Grids. You don't gain or win stuff; you score them. There's a dancing mini-game. Remember how the battle against Sin, the greatest monstrosity the world has ever seen, got started by people singing? Well Yuna takes it to a whole 'nother level in FFX-2 by having an actual concert in the middle of a world ending crisis. Not to mention, the game starts out with the most Britney Spears-ish pop video ever. Also, a major piece of information regarding the world's history is named The Awesome Sphere...
I guess it evens out though. Many guys who play FFX-2 just want to see three girls run around in bikinis so it's only fitting that they'd be forced to sit through the uber-girly stuff.

Cloud Strife costume for Lightning Returns.

And they've given you more control in battle and the game is still gorgeous and it looks so good I'm gonna buy it.

I'm going to buy it because it has "Final Fantasy" in the title.

Regarding the FFX-2 battle system. I've always felt it was the basis for the FFXIII battle systems.

-Changes classes/outfits mid battle in FFX-2 to fit the battle situation -> Paradigm shifts, simplified it. Less classes/roles, able to switch more than one character at once.
-Moved from MP to no MP evened out the roles more. More of an incentive to use different roles.
-ATB still present. FFX-2 had different recovery times, FFXIII had spells that took different times. Different yes, but not too entirely.
-You only control one character in FFXIII, oh wait...

Well the developers did say Lightning is the female version of Cloud.
Likewise, Paine is supposed to be a female version of Squall.
