I've played most of the main games pre-PS3 era and some sequels and spin-offs.
In the order that I played them:

- FFVIII: my best friend in high school and I decided to lend each other our favorite RPGs. I, of course, gave her Legend of Legaia (which she fell in love with) and she gave me FFVIII. I actually liked it a lot. It was my first FF game and probably one of my favorites. Despite people saying the junction system is broken, I loved it cuz I'm a slightly obsessive perfectionist and I just love stat maxing. I also liked the characters a lot, especially the main playable characters (except Rinoa).

- FFX: My first game on a PS2. Nice gameplay, nice graphics, awesome story, likeable characters, obsess-able stat mechanics. FFX also ranks as one of my top favorite FF games. My only complaint is the ending. I really wanted a happy ending where Tidus and Yuna ended up together. Or at least Tidus being made real so there's the possibility that they get together. But I guess they had plans for the sequel so I was satisfied when FFX-2 came out.

- FFVI: Played the original SNES version on an emulator. Cool story. Definitely loved Terra's background and Celes' too. I liked how there were so many playable characters and you get to keep them ALL at the end. But it did get a bit tedious leveling them all and teaching them all the magic though, even for me. Kinda wished Terra ended up with someone in the ending but I guess I'll settle for the Locke and Celes love. And really kinda wish Shadow didn't die and went back home with his daughter. :-(

- FFIV: Again on an SNES emulator. Did not like Kain. The rest of the characters were okay. Didn't like that the characters came and went and you only end up with 5 at the end. Would have liked to choose my own party throughout. Other than that, mechanics were similar to FFVI so no complaints.

- FFV: Had some of the most hilarious lines in the FF series. Bartz is a badass clown dude (who by the way is the only male character in all main FF games to travel with a party made of all girls). I loved the story and the witty dialogues. But the job leveling was painful. Monsters gave so little ABP in the beginning and it's hard to learn any good abilities until pretty late in the game. :-(

- FFX-2: Three girls running around, kicking butt and gaining magical powers Sailor Moon style. What's not to love? Other than that, I loved the game play. Probably my favorite battle mechanics in the FF series. The dresspheres were a cool concept too and less painful to level than the jobs from FFV. Plus it resolved my whole issue with the original FFX ending. Also Rikku is adorable.

- FFXII: Eh... Got the game because I heard the main character's name is Vaan and it sounds like Vahn from LoL (not even kidding). I didn't really like the story since it was too political. The characters were too deep and angsty for my taste (except Penelo and maybe Balthier). The gameplay mechanics were okay but I didn't really like the Gambit system all that much. Probably one of my least favorite FF game.

- FFTactics-WotL: Got the remake PSP version. Wasn't a big fan of the story (again too political) and ended up skipping a lot of the cutscenes. Loved the gameplay though and the grindability. I also wished the supporting characters had depth and development. After their initial intro and after they join your party, they kinda fade into the background.

- Dissidia 1: Best mix of RPG, 3D fighting and Fan service ever! Pitting my favorite characters against one another and finally answering the "who would win" question was the best. Terra is a freaking beast in this game! The story's kinda convoluted but whatever, it still rocks!

- FF1: Got the original NES version on an emulator so I can get more info on the FF1/Dissidia backstory. Got tired of it midway and stopped playing...

- FFIX: Got it from PSN on my PSP. Beautiful game, loveable characters, decent gameplay, good music. It really lived up to its hype of being the best FF of the PS1 era. I liked how each character has different skillsets, making them pretty unique in battle. This, I suppose, is a big change from the earlier FFs where you had basically identical characters in terms of abilities, except for their limit breaks. Also Quina is hilarious! Kinda wished Vivi got to live out his life as a human though. Or at least a human lifespan. Almost cried when I found out he "expired" :-(

- Dissidia 2: Liked the addition of new characters, especially Yuna. But didn't like the battle mechanic changes as much. They also nerfed Terra quite a lot which made me sad :-( Other than that, it's still a pretty good game. The story mode change to free world map traveling was amazing though.

- FFVII: Finally played it to see what the hype was all about. And I admit, it was a pretty good game and I liked it. I still don't think it was worth all the hype though. But I like how the superbosses are challenging and you can really test your skill by beating them really early. Loved the materia concept and game mechanics. Again, being obsessive, I loved making several copies of fully evolved materias. And being able to combine them for some crazy combo effects is pretty nifty.

- FF3: Only NES FF I finished. It was actually pretty nice despite a lot of FF fans not liking it. The story was more interesting than FF1 and FF2 (for me at least) and the job system made it a lot less tedious to play through. It was also the game that started many of the FF staples like summons, moogles and a lot of jobs so I enjoyed it.

- FF2: Ugh... Did I mention I like to obsessively level and max stats? Well that's hard to do when there are no levels. Having to repeated use magic to level them was fine (kinda like levelng Seru) but with stats, whenever one goes up, another goes down. Very annoying. The story was okay. There were too many unanswered questions though. I think I quit maybe a third of the way into the game.

- FF Airborne Brigade: My current FF fix! ^_^ It's a smart phone game where you're part of a brigade and you go around different areas of the FF worlds fighting monsters and Espers. You get to use weapons, abilities/spells, summons and jobs from all FF games across the board. You have to earn them thru quests and stuff, of course. During events, you even get to summon some popular characters from the games or use their abilities to fight bosses from the main series games!

Well that's my rant on the FF games I've played. If that was too long to read, here's the summary: I've played most of them and I like the ones I can obsess about.

I haven't beaten them all because my adhd makes it hard to bet any game for me.But I own and have played all the main ff games. I at the very least got through half the game. Except in ff2 because I f**ing loved the way you lvld so I was so busy pimping a single char out that i forgot to play the game xD.also ff6, i played it for 20 minutes. for some reason i can't get my self to enjoy it or play it. Glad to hear u dislike 12 because I hate that game more than I love Legaia, which is a lot. ff9 i liked it but got really bored and stopped on disc 3 in the castle place when your main part gets trapped. ff8 the first one i beat, i loved the easy lvling, the card game, the gfs, the gf abilities, the way u get weapons, the story, the chars, the freedom, the large amount of secrets, the mini games, the fact that there is many side quest, limit breaks. Everything. ff7, eeeeh, okay, way overrated, the main char is giant こし,tifa is a dumb 猿が大好きだよ, Red WAS 猿が大好きだよ AWESOME (so awesome im not even censor the f word) the weapon bosses were really amazing and fun, the secrets were cool and fun to search for (i like searching for secrets :] ). ff4 game play was okay, bosses were to the extremes in term of difficulty, the fact I was able to play through the entire game with everyone dead except Cecil was F**king spectacular, but the story... OH MY GOD THAT STORY WAS AWESOME! I played it purly to find out what happens, it is the first ff to actually have a story. ff1 was fun, its like legaia, really long the first time but the second time through was 1/8 as long. ff10, the third ff to beat and currently the last (ff4 was the second one I beat) I loved most of what this game had to through at me, except one thing. This one thing is the reason I only see ff10 has a lower ranked ff game. The fight with Seymour Guado, that 質 was over the top impossible, and because of this I don't ever want to play ff10 again because I doubt i could beat him again. ff13 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay the narrow pathed, thereare no secrets, no side quest nada, u can't even choose ur party intil the end. ff3, got farin it but i didn't enjoy it at all, only played t because it was the only thing i could do on my ds, all my other ds games sukd balls. i think that is all of- NO WAIT!!! ff5, god this was a good one, funny, comedic, cool story, cheesy but in a good way, and SO MANY SECRETS :D!!!!
