2012 Spike VGAs

As I'm sure you all know, the VGAs kinda suck. Yadda yadda. Right. But I did watch them for the reveals (and Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Alba) like I usually do every year. Some highlights and tidbits and thoughts:

Game of the Year
The Walking Dead: The Game

I disagree completely. While TWD was a pretty good game (I don't even like zombies or the show), there's no way it should've been GOTY, even when this year wasn't all too impressive overall. Would've given it to Xenoblade Chronicles, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, or Dragon's Dogma.

I expected Mass Effect 3, Dishonored, or Halo 4 to win.

Studio of the Year
Telltale Games

Because of TWD they won. Again I disagree (but that's usually the case). Didn't really care for any specific studios this year or anything so no input.

Entertainment Weekly and Spike VGA Best Game of the Decade
Half-Life 2

No. While HL2 is amazing, its just not up for "Best Game of the Decade" or anything. ACII or Portal 2 or something pls

Best Xbox 360 Game
Halo 4

Expected. Probably deserved, idk.

Best PS3 Game
Journey

This game was pretty 野菜 good. Better than I thought it was gonna be. Deserved.

Best Wii/Wii U Game
New Super Mario Bros. U

No. Shut up. Xenoblade Chronicles.

Get that Mario 質 outta here.

Best PC Game
XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Again idk.

Expected Diablo 3.

Best Shooter
Borderlands 2

Kinda weird but also expected. It was definitely between this and Halo 4. Glad this won because I like Borderlands, but this game is starting to get overrated tbh.

Best Action Adventure Game
Dishonored

Haven't played. Expected this completely. Would've given it to ACIII, even though I barely got to play it.

Best RPG
Mass Effect 3

the the the the no. Xenoblade Chronicles. C'mon now. Or Dragon's Dogma too.

Totally expected.

Best Multi-player Game
Borderlands 2

No. PSASBR or TTT2. Fighting games are more fun in multi-player than FPS (imo). At least locally. But fighting games never win awards outside of fighting game awards >_____>

It was either this or Halo 4.

Best Individual Sports Game

I don't even know.

Best Team Sports Game
NBA 2K13

I don't play sports.

Best Driving Game
Need for Speed: Most Wanted

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed stomps on this. Get outta here.

Don't really care about graphics or pay attention to them. Halo 4 looks nice, so it fits I guess.

Persona 4 Arena

Wuuuuuuuuuuh? Totally unexpected. Figured TTT2 would've won (and it should have).

Arena's good, but...not up to snuff with TTT2 or DOA5 imo. Solid 3rd place.

Best Handheld/Mobile Game

Best Performance by a Human Female
Melissa Hutchinson as Clementine, The Walking Dead: The Game

"by a Human Female?" Uh...what? lol do they use animals for VAs nowadays?

But Clementine was the best original character all year. Deserved I guess, if they're not counting UMvC3 Vita's port. If they did count it, then Morrigan should've one cuz of that accent.

Best Performance by a Human Male
Dameon Clarke as Handsome Jack, Borderlands 2

Again Human male lol.

Sure idc. Unless ports are included. In that case, Dormammu and Doom from UMvC3 should've stomped. Also Hazama from BBCS Extend. And can't forget Optimus Prime baby wooooooo.

Best Adapted Video Game
The Walking Dead: The Game

Does Transformers: Fall of Cybertron qualify? That should've won if yes. If not, then TWD can take it and all would be well.

wtf no. I like Clap Trap as much as the net guy but...no

For original/new characters, it should've been Haytham, Clementine, or Juliet. Hazama, Jubei, Deadpool, etc. for counting ports. Grimlock otherwise cuz he's GRIMLOCK.

- Announcement of Dark Souls II for PS3, 360, PC. Translation: the Internet just orgasmed.

- New Kojima game called Phantom Pain. Looks like a psychological survival horror thing. Strong evidence pretty much confirms that it's actually MGS5 :O. Found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSfajBs2nyQ. Get hyped.

- The South Park game looks great

Most people use the following logic when shopping:

"If it costs more, then its obviously means its better than the other systems."
"Everybody else has it."
"It comes in Pink/Blue/Black/etc."
"I want it. Don't know what it does. But I want it mom!"
"I broke the first one, I NEED another one."
"I NEED IT TO LIVE!!!"

Those aren't the ideas most people have, but its the majority.

Other than the obvious having a brand new next-gen system, new launch titles, excitement surrounding the coming future, etc, it's because it's new and exciting. Gaming's always evolving. If it stagnates that's awful.
