Starting Again
well it has been a long time since i played both of these, years in fact...but i've been getting the itch more and more to go back and play them again...with that said, i think i will dust off my shelves and put these back in my PS3 (backwards compatible) so i can play them again...
i think i am one of the tiny few who actually liked the 2nd one better than the first one...
anyhoo, i'll most likely be starting these up this weekend and relive the fun that is Legaia..
i'll try and post any new ideas i have for Legaia 3 in the ideas section as i come across them..
was there anyone else here who liked the second game better than the first?

Just remember that there's a fatal glitch that will prevent you from progressing passed a certain point of the game for Legend of Legaia if you play it on the PS3.
Only way to get around it is to purchase from ebay/amazon a PS3 memory card adapter and then transfer your PS3 data to a PS1 or PS2 memory card, then play passed the freezing point and save at the next area, and then copying the new save file back to your PS3.

Re: Starting Again
I don't have a PS3...So I don't worry about that stuff. In fact, I'm thinking about modding my Wii to play PS2/PS1 games (I've heard it's now possible) and just dropping my ps2 completely...It'd be easier than the magic-swap crap. Uh oh, now you know how I got a Japanese voiced Legaia 2 game...xD
Anywhooo - I do like certain things in the second game a lot more, such as the variety of mini-games, longer story (or at least feels that way), and fast map traveling. I enjoyed the additional things also, such as the crafting and camping systems. It's really juts the story-line, extremely long battles, and poor choice in dialogue creation that disappointed me from the second game. If they had fixed the long battles and made the dialogue a lot more awesome rather than "oh no really? oh geez" and "................................" (did you ever notice how many messages had a ridiculous amount of period's?)...Then I think they would have done a great job. It'd just be story line that needs some fixing, although I still did find interest in certain parts of it.

Re: Starting Again
The thing about Duel Saga is that I found myself enjoying the sidequests and optional cutscenes more than the actual story itself, which is a problem.
And all the slow zoom ins after every single art, made it so battle was much less fluid than the original.
Seemed to be a weird blend of difficulty as well. Like, what's up with the super hard random encounters that can ambush and kill you before you get a turn but the amazingly simple boss fights?

Yep, it's on all models of PS3s, no matter what update you have or anything. Not sure why it does it but it's obviously got something to do with the PS3 hardware.sword_of_omens wrote:ouch...i was not aware of this..how far into it is it located at? and is it on all PS3's?Sise-Neg wrote:Just remember that there's a fatal glitch that will prevent you from progressing passed a certain point of the game for Legend of Legaia if you play it on the PS3.

The glitch happens when you go through the Room of Mirrors in Conkram. It'll always freeze when in the middle of the vortex. It's quite a ways into the game, at least over 30 hours into it.
You could play it on the PS2 but the only problem is the enormous slowdown during battle scenes. For some reason, and it's only on the PS2, battle voices are always 1-2 seconds ahead of the battle movements while they are going through their execution. It gets pretty irritating to me so I could never deal with playing on PS2, if you don't mind that then it's all good.
I recommend getting the adapter:
http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-Mem ... B000K1GZIU
You can find them on ebay for much cheaper though.

hmm..ok i was hoping it might've been the newer models with backwards compatibility that might be giving the issues...
i'm pretty sure they have emulator software instead of the original PS1/2 programming...i know that this has caused some games not to work and others to glitch...
luckily i have one of the original Fat 60G model with the original programming so i haven't had any issues yet...
but i guess it's better safe than sorry...
Re: Starting Again
The lag is actually only based around the Phat (older) models. The slim seems to handle the game MUCH better...The only lag I find in the game is when having Freeze use a special attack against the players.Sise-Neg wrote: You could play it on the PS2 but the only problem is the enormous slowdown during battle scenes. Re: Starting Again
i'm thinking i will start the second one first then...
play it on my ps3 so i don't have to break out the beast..
my PS2 is the original fat version so Legaia 1
might have to be handled with gloves...
i'm thinking i might try L1 on my PS3 anyway, and then if it glitches,
well...we'll cross that bridge when we come to it...
