As promised, I found out the Seru absorption mechanics. There is a mini-guide out there on GFaqs but some values are incorrect.
First some key points:
1. Seru absorbing is the same for all characters and elements.
2. Ivory Book gives an extra 30% chance of absorbing, they do not stack.
3. Higher level seru usually have a higher rate of absorbing, unless flat.
4. Damage or types of attack do not affect the absorbing.
Here are the rates of all the seru, given in Lv 1, Lv 2, Lv 3 absorption rates:
Gimard - 55%,60%,80%
Theeder - 30%,50%,60%
Vera - 60%,60%,70%
Gizam - 30%,40%,50%
Nighto - 30%,40%,50%
Zenoir - 20%,30%,40%
Viguro - 10%,15%,35%
Swordie - 15%,25%,35%
Orb - 40%,50%,60%
Freed - 15%,25%,35%
Nova - 10%,25%,35%
Gola Gola - 15%,25%,35%
Mushura - 15%,25%,35%
Aluru - 10%,25%,35%
Barra - 15%,15%,15%
Kemaro - 15%,15%,15%
Spoon - 15%,15%,15%
Slippery - 15%,15%,15%
Iota - 15%,15%,15%
Puera - 15%,15%,15%
Gilium - 1%,1%,1%

Thanks for this, always wondered how it all worked.

Re: Solved! - Seru Absorption
There goes my illusionary thought of Gilium lvl 1 being easier to capture than lvl 3 lol

Re: Solved! - Seru Absorption
I think that might be explained by the fact that if one character already has Gilium absorbed at the Absolute Fortress, all their kills from Gilia (I don't know if that's the plural of Gilium, but I'm going with it.) in the future can't yield another absorption, so it seems as though the rate has fallen.
Does the game do anything weird (i.e. overflow) for >100% chances, as would be the case with Gimard L3 with the Ivory Book?

Do not question yourself with the why or the how. I simply am, and that is all you need to know.
Re: Solved! - Seru Absorption
so does the game just feel sorry for you if you STILL don't have gimard by the time you roll up on lv3 forms
Re: Solved! - Seru Absorption
Whaaat? I don't know about you Night, but I start having that said person just Spirit until the other two absorb him Then again, Gilium Lv3 are tough so I usually let them hit Giliums once.Nightshade wrote:I think that might be explained by the fact that if one character already has Gilium absorbed at the Absolute Fortress, all their kills from Gilia (I don't know if that's the plural of Gilium, but I'm going with it.) in the future can't yield another absorption, so it seems as though the rate has fallen.
Nothing special, it just adds up that number 30% Ivory + 80% Gimard, and then checks to see if the random number is less than that. I didn't even notice that both Gimard and Vera at Level 3 will be 100%, wow. IF you somehow get that far without them; suppose it's possible if you're not paying attention.Nightshade wrote: Does the game do anything weird (i.e. overflow) for >100% chances, as would be the case with Gimard L3 with the Ivory Book?
