Re: Superhero Movies!
So you think Batman Begins is better than Captain America? Blasphemy. Also Dark Knight should be much higher.
You did have a good list overall though.

Re: Superhero Movies!
I honestly couldn't decide, but I think Cap felt a little awkward/goofy in some places, and BB flowed much nicer. Felt more tight and fluid and cohesive and w/e buzzwords I'm sposed to use.IronJustice wrote:So you think Batman Begins is better than Captain America?
I guess I liked them about the same, but BB was "better" iunno.
It felt more right to put BB over Cap. Let's go with that.
Nah. Highest I'd put it is over Hellboy, but I like Hellboy more than I like Batman, so...no.Also Dark Knight should be much higher.
Nuh uh.You did have a good list overall though.
And now that I've put more thought into it, I think one of the problems I (and others iunno) have with superhero series is that the character starts to feel like less of a hero as their story gets longer. They feel more like warriors who just fight against the big villains, whereas in the early stories, they were an ordinary person rising to the challenge and saving people. It starts to feel like the sole purpose of the costumed hero at that point is to have a battle with a big villain that everyone wants to see on screen.
That's definitely one of the reasons I lost interest in the Spider-Man series but absolutely loved TAS (other than it being a better movie in pretty much every way >:P) - it went back to Peter Parker being more of a hero and less of a fighter. Less of an action star and warrior.
Man of Steel kinda reinforced that for me. While I wasn't a big fan of Superman before, Man of Steel really changed my perspective. I loved what they did with him in the movie. How they just made him more relatable. He felt like more of a hero and less of a god or unstoppable force. They made Superman feel like he could legitimately lose and I thought that was fantastic.
It might also be why I never really get into Batman movies and stories all that much. Bruce Wayne just isn't relatable to me. Batman never really feels like a hero (he did in Begins, tho). Even though he's the one without any powers, he just never feels like he's in any real peril. He never feels like an ordinary human being with a heart rising up to face something others can't and won't. He feels like a fighter and a warrior. And the whole "Batman with time to plan beats anything" doesn't really help his case. I even support OP Superman more than Batman with time to plan in debates.
I also tend to conflict pretty heavily with a majority view on fiction and entertainment stuff. Amazing Spider-Man gets a lot of hate, and it ended up being my favorite superhero movie. Nolan's Batman series is universally praised, but I didn't think it was all that special. But also, what the movies get praised and criticized for isn't what I praise or criticize them for. I don't care that TAS went back to the origin of Peter Parker. I don't care that The Dark Knight was dark and gritty. I don't care that Avengers was considered a cheap entertainment summer action flick.
Eh. Don't have to read all that garbage. Blargh over.

I haven't seen ANY of these movies.
