So, basically the NTSC version is a bit harder than the PAL, unless the player is also level-buffed or sth of the sort. Usually JRPG's decrease difficulty for export games tho, I wonder why they upped it.ATK = x1.25
UDF/LDF = x2
INT = x1.125

Re: All Enemy Stats
Not necessarily. I'd have to look at a PAL version of the game. They could have just adjusted the original stats like that on the PAL version too. So it's possible PAL does the same multiplication.dharthoorn wrote: So, basically the NTSC version is a bit harder than the PAL, unless the player is also level-buffed or sth of the sort. I'd have to load up the PAL version and check enemy stats, they could even be the same. The japanese for that matter as well hrmm...

Re: All Enemy Stats
Ah, but then I think I interpreted the info on the post wrong. The stats changes you found pertain to changes made progressing from disc 1 to disc 2 and the version you are testing happens to be US version. What I thought you were saying is that the stat differences/changes were found comparing the US/NTSC to the original JAP/PAL version which is apparently not the case judging by your previous post.
Re: All Enemy Stats
Ah sorry, yeah I was talking about the official japanese V-Jump stats that someone posted. But assuming those are right from the japanese version, the US version IS harder then. I didn't mention that these calculation could have simply been a tweak they made during development. Instead of fine-tuning every creature's stats towards the end of development, they thought to just add in a multiplier.
I'm still working on that ROM Edit app in my limited freetime. So it's going slowly but it's quite easy.

Re: All Enemy Stats
So, Lapis apparently has insane defensive stats (1950 / 1750), but he actually takes a ton of damage. Does his defense actually underflow back to zero or something in the calculation?
Do not question yourself with the why or the how. I simply am, and that is all you need to know.
Re: All Enemy Stats
Hrm, good point. I'll check that out in a couple days or possibly tomorrow.

Re: All Enemy Stats
Earlier today I popped in my JP version of Legaia and ran it on epsxe using the JP PSX Bios. I can confirm just from fighting the first enemies that the enemy stats and after battle rewards were definitely changed in the US version. I made an image of the comparison between the 3 and 5 hit combos and the after battle rewards.

Now I know why I remember the JP version being easier. It is. Looks like the V-JUMP stats were off because they were changed for the US release.

Re: All Enemy Stats
I'll have to take that into consideration as I work on the Japanese side of the website then. Glad this was presented early on (I have the JP version too but haven't tried it out quite yet). Now it makes me curious on all the other versions as well as I create translations in the future for the site. Right now we have set up English, Spanish, and Japanese... If you're interested in future on-the-side work, I could definitely look into a Chinese site too.
Didn't mean to go off topic there really lol.

Re: All Enemy Stats
Or here's an interesting idea, should be easily tested too. I know attaining the Raseru(Meta) increases your attack. Maybe in the Japan version those stats weren't separated and they just gave that bonus directly to the character? Would suck if JP version is that much easier, I can't imagine Legaia being any easier. Its difficulty level seemed almost perfect to me(would still be great to have an option for different difficulty levels though)

Re: All Enemy Stats
I doubt the coding would vary that vastly but the US version treats Meta (and all raseru) as an equippable item. When damage calculation rolls out, it gets any ATK bonus from all equipped items and figures them into the damage. So what you're saying wouldn't be any different. As soon as you get Meta, you are getting a permanent increase to your damage and every time Meta levels.Sephirothansylar wrote:Or here's an interesting idea, should be easily tested too. We do know that V-Jump has the enemy stats at a significantly lower amount than in the US game, but I suppose we never checked on the characters' stats. I wonder if those are the same.
Someday I'll have to grab myself a copy and pull apart the game data
