Re: Hajime no Ippo
How're you feelin' about Itagaki? He's pretty polarizing within the fanbase -- half think he's "too anime-y" and kinda pointless since he'll always be under Ippo and never on the same level as him, Miyata, Ricardo, etc, whereas the other half think he's badass, enjoy his speed style, they like havin' a bro character that isn't a chump like Aokimura, etc.
I think he's cool. I do like that Morikawa used Itagaki and Imai to sorta serve as another form'a Ippo and Miyata, as I'm feelin' that we won't be gettin' that fight until the end'a the series (whenever he decides to end the 野菜 thing). I also enjoy his fighting style, and I like that he essentially wants everything Ippo has (*ahem* Kumi), but he backs off so he can keep bein' friends with Ippo.
Also, you care'ta list your Top 4:
- Characters
- Tracks
- Fights
- Sunday Punches

Re: Hajime no Ippo
Aight so I just finished Rising. So my mini-review for both:
- It was RAAAD.
- Artist-style barely bothered me. Heck, I didn't even notice anything major. Seemed like the same'ole style but more modern.
- ... Takamura's world title matches tho.
- Ippo still ain't man enough to tap Kumi.
- Aoki's style's the GOAT.
- Coconut punches.
I loved everything, and I still don't hate any characters. Any character with a rocky start eventually makes up for it within the next few episode. And all the fights and training had me at the edge of my seat (the Bryan Hawk fight though). I'll give an in depth fight by fight review later.
In no particular order:
- Takamura
- Aoki
- Kamawaga
HM: Ippo's mom, Umezawa, Sendo, Mashiba, and just cuz, Date and Ricardo
- Yuuzora no Kamihikouki
- the opening to New Challenger (I think it's called Hekireki or something)
- Inner Light (iz so effective at hyping everything up)
The others were meh.
- Ippo vs. Ricardo (even though it was just a spar)
- Aoki vs. Imae
- Kamagawa vs. 'Murican
HM: Ippo vs. Sendo, Takamura vs. Bryan Hawk, Takamura vs. David Eagle, Sendo vs. Volg
- Dempsey Roll
- Tekken (shaddup I consider it a SP).
- Frog Punch
HM: Low Smash, Jolt Counter, Corkscrew Punch, Solar Plexus blow (I've already liked this one way before Hammer Nao did it but still).
You were talking about buyin' a Japanese game for this weren't you? Yeah unless you own a Japanese console, don't.

I like'em. He's got a nice lil brother complex feel goin' on. Already feels like a member of the Ippo family.Zup wrote:How're you feelin' about Itagaki?
His sister's a cutie pie though. Itagakimasu.I also enjoy his fighting style, and I like that he essentially wants everything Ippo has (*ahem* Kumi), but he backs off so he can keep bein' friends with Ippo.

Re: Hajime no Ippo
This was directed more'ta New Challenger. I felt that it had that squeaky look to it that looked less organic than the first series. I mentioned before that Rising went back to the first series' style while havin' a better budget/more modern tech.Redhollowlives999 wrote: - Artist-style barely bothered me. 've always been an advocate for unpredictability'n unorthodox.- Aoki's style's the GOAT.
Also one'a the things I love about the series. Everbody's human and likeable, and they don't fall inna archetype/stock character territory.I loved everything, and I still don't hate any characters. Any character with a rocky start eventually makes up for it within the next few episode.
The only character I was iffy on in the beginnin' was Sawamura. He felt way too evil anime-y for the rest of the show's vibe. But he brought outta Ippo an angle that I did enjoy.
Kumi and Hiroko >>>>His sister's a cutie pie though.

Re: Hajime no Ippo
Nah. Though I did like'em more than I expected, he's still lackin' for me. He keeps comin' off as a "Sasuke without the emo". I do enjoy watching episodes focusing on him though. No Miyata?
No Mashiba?1. Sendo
2. Ippo

Re: Hajime no Ippo
You got bad taste. Irradiation's gorgeous montage music, At Last is quintessential "NEXT TIME ON DRAGON BALL Z" tunes, Naked Fang's a hype as the the the the battle track, To Be a Winner's the perfect semi-dark grandiose theme, etc.Redhollowlives999 wrote: Not all of them did it for me (or even caught my attention, for that matter).
Nothin' better than a simple yet impactful hit.Love watchin' this.
Hopefully he gets that thing sometime soon. The best.
's a full-body overhead hook to the face. 's all you need'a know to realize 's the greatest.I ain't see enough of those.
