General Discussion

A world where each member of the site can spend G for items and adventuring together. This is kind of a "sneak peek" to the future Dungeons and Dragons feature of the site (Not all DnD Features will be here, of course).

Keep in my that you have several thousand G in the bank for use. I know you didn't want to play that way, but it works...

The purpose of this game and the future DnD is to make use of the forums economy itself. It'll encourage people to be more active here as well, considering that simply joining in on discussions will get you more G.

As for now, as mentioned previously, the current people everyone has met have no interest in purchasing items from players. There are those who will purchase items later, but I haven't managed that side of things yet, and when I do, it'll probably be after the map has expanded to include Sol. For now, people on the forum have so much G that the current store (with Seru and stuff) is virtually worthless and has no interest anymore. I wanted to get that interest in getting G back into play. And, although I wanted to wait until later to mention it, I want to implement the Seru in this game and the future DnD to make that part of the store more active.

I feel that at some point I may end up dropping out of the game at some point depending on how far that goes.

It really feels like this is turning into a pay-to-play sort of game.

Not to mention that earning G for my forum account doesn't translate to in-game G, and logically, in-game, there would be no reason why my character would have thousands of G just sitting around somewhere.

It sounds like you're a bit too focused on keeping this game as realistic as possible. It'll bother you less if you allow some wiggle room. Maybe you could just add withdrawling funds into a story somehow, like:

A man encounters Olivi and hands her a sealed letter. Olivi opens it and finds a check for 10,000G from Xelson!

I dunno, something like that.

It's not as much of a bother about realism, but rather that this sort of integrated-forum-economy style of RPG isn't what I had in mind (and wasn't made clear) when I signed up for this.

I guess having a fun game is bound to have strings attached... It really feels like this is one of those online games that claims to be "free to play" for awhile, until the game comes out to you and demands payment. To be frank, the G to play scheme is probably just going to lend itself to spamming and post farming.

In addition, you've really sort of incentivized killing off other players.

Well, even though we are "paying to play", we are using fake money. G has no value outside of this site, and before this game, it had little value in the site. You finally have something to do with that eleven grand you've racked up.

True, but at the same time, I enjoy just having that much forum money even if it doesn't have value anywhere else. I guess it comes down to whether I enjoy having the money in my account more than I enjoy using it for this game, no? And for me, it's likely the former.

If anything, it's just another feature to the board like the arcade or store. You get G from posting on the forums, you use that G to your benefit. If the economy on the forums wasn't so... horrible, I would have implemented in-game G right away. Of course, I could totally reset everyone's G if I really wanted to and do so. But then again, we'd have a ton of angry people (and even I don't want to lose all my G!) lol.

And it's not like this RPG will just stop being played a month from now or anything. If anything, it'll be around as long as the DnD game is still being worked on by lone (if it is...).
