Let the guests speak up

On some sites, there's this thing that they do where they let guest (non-registered people) come in and respond to/ create topics. We have lots of guest every now and then check out forums; why not let them speak?
Incase my statement above isn't clear, I'm asking if:
•it were possible to allow guest to post w/o them needing to join the site (as I'm sure people don't join due to laziness)
-so instead of them doing that long reg. Crap they can type a temp username followed by a message and BOOM! they post
Ofcourse they don't receive the benefits of the site like forum dollars and level ranging but atleast we can hear more voices...
If you need an example site; might I suggest

A few problems with guests:
1.) Spammers
2.) Bots
3.) Constant IP banning, which I would not be fond of doing
4.) Why join as a member when you can just be a guest and get what you need once in awhile?
5.) I hate seeing "guest" all over sites and not knowing who the the the the the is talking.

i thought so
but why would people spam when they have nothing to gain?
idk about bots
ip banning would only occur if people break rules..
youll learn who they are with their temporary username and i mean when the site is more popular... that way youll have more moderators and the job of banning ip's and erasing post will be easier..

In most forums, guests are only able to view specific sections of the forums, such as announcements and guides, which seems to be a working approach. The only reason I joined was to create a thread.

but still nobody would permanently join if they can just get what they want by guesting

And guests should be able to view threads and forums here just fine... just can't post or create threads. If they want to talk bad enough, I'm pretty sure they'll create an account to at least post once, if anything.
