Should a Legend of Legaia remake be rated M for Mature?

Legend of Legaia would work great as a rated-M game, in my opinion. What I mean is that blood, gore and disturbing imagery would really go well for the Legaia atmosphere. You could have scenes of people getting graphically slaughtered by the Seru, with limbs being torn up and all. It would make it much more creepy going through the Mist if you thought a Seru was going to pop out and viciously dismember you limb from limb in graphic detail like a Necromorph out of Dead Space.
Also, I think the original script writer Hidenori Shibao would approve. My friend was reading his personal notes on his website about the Legaia script and it turns out that big inspirations for Legend of Legaia were Stephen King's The Mist and John Carpenter's The Thing (Juggernaut's tentacles wrapping around Rim Elm seems to make an homage to The Thing that much more obvious).
Do you think Legend of Legaia would do well as a horror RPG? Or do you think it should be kept within the E for Everyone rating? Or even just slightly upped in violence for a T rating?

With how today's gaming is, I agree with rated M. Back when Legaia was made, it fit as a rated E game... But as you'll see, today the most popular games are either family-everyone-loves games or rated M games.

It all depends. It seems like you guys got a dark experience from Legaia one. I never played the 1st installment so I can not give a full opinion on the topic but I did however play Legaia duel saga several times over and over. I honestly have to say that the game felt like a T for teen game. Not too sure about gore and dismemberment but I do think blood would have been cool when you damaged the monsters. Ehhh... At the same time I do not think it is necessary... FFFFFFUUUU my indecisiveness. I blame K73SK.

The original Legaia should have, by all rights, been rated T. Whoever was reviewing that game at the ESRB was obviously smoking something. I feel that any sequel should be as such - I do not approve of gratuitous gore and the like. However, if the realism alone pushes it to the M level (as in, the gameplay and story is comparable to the original), then I have no objections.

so yeah go for making the game a little more mature (and scary Seru) but don't try to make it a horror game
