Yes, you read that right. I'm talking about the much ignored character from Naruto: Tenten.
I figured we don't have a specific Naruto thread yet and I'd start one about her. And yes, this is a Tenten thread. IF you have hateful things to say, take them elsewhere or you'll be spanked with the Jidanda.

Now, Tenten wasn't one of my favorite characters initially. I thought she was okay (didn't hate her) and her weapons were kind of a cool concept (technically, she is the closest to real life ninja from back in the days).
But recently, she's been growing on me a lot! I started liking her when I played as her in the Naruto video games. I find her moveset really cool and I love playing as her. To some, she might appear spammy but I think it's actually unique that there's a long range character like her when most other characters in the games are all about flashy up-in-your-face jutsu.
So then I started following her scenes more in the manga and anime. And honestly, she needs more screen time. IMO, she has soooooo much potential to be a powerful character. So far in the manga/anime, she's mostly focused her jutsu on long range and explosives. In the games, she's actually a pretty strong melee attacker with weapons appearing and disappearing with each swing. That's why I wish they'd make her attack more like her video game moveset in the manga/anime.

Yes, yes she was. Kinda upset about her first initial lost against Temari. Complete bull.

I feel like the whole Temari vs Tenten battle was to showcase Temari as a strong fighter. In the manga, Tenten didn't even get to attack. But since that's been established, if Tenten fought the way she did in the games, Temari's wind jutsu wouldn't be such a big deal.

Also, not sure if anyone's familiar with the Rock Lee's Springtime of Youth spin-off. But in that series, Tenten actually beat Temari in battle with an attack Lee created for her called "Manipulated Tools: Breast Hammer". Now I know the spin-off is not canon and it's mainly for laughs but it brings up an important tactic for Tenten: hid her scrolls/weapons in her clothing! Then she can attack with melee weapons and activate her scrolls from her clothes for point blank projectile attacks.

Yeah I was thinking about watching that Spin-off, but anime got a little boring for me, so I never got into it.

Is it any good?

Tenten wasn't really ignored in my views. Though she was awesome (and cute). Those buns on her hair are the only things that bother me.

Really her problem is that she never received alot of development- or at least as much as she could have gotten. She wasn't really known for her crushes, she really didn't mingle with Naruto (the main) that much, and thus lost alot of screen time. Her powers are really interesting, but imo limited. She could probably do a whole lot more; look at Sai for example. His main weapon is a paintbrush, and it's awesome.

Tenten could probably summon some nuke at will (assuming she has enough Chakra reserves) and destroy her enemies on the spot.

I agree with the spin-off. Some episodes are just dumb and boring. I read the manga first and if it's an episode based of the manga, I watched it. If not, I skipped around to a part I like.

And yeah, when I say ignored, I mean underdeveloped. She does get screen time in the anime but she could be made into so much more.

Didn't she have a crush on someone? I kinda skipped arcs up to the war. Stopped reading for awhile...

Well there's an implied crush on Neji but Neji's dead now so that's not going to happen

And of course, there was no love to be given to Lee.

They need to change her hairstyle up...
