Played bioshock and infamous 2.... All graphics... Nothing else....there was really more violence than anything else...
it really do be like that tho
Re: Anybody else "drifting away" from games lately?
Violence is....kinda a major aspect of games....
While Bioshock's story wasn't amazing, inFAMOUS (the first one) blew me away. The comic book cutscenes mixed with the nice voice acting made it a really great game. idk if we played the same titles...
Are you much of a gamer walnutz? It seems like if you kept up with the industry more you'd find more games to your liking
You could always try out indie titles...

Meh im an ocasional gamer.... And compared to 7-13 years ago; games are now abysmal....
it really do be like that tho

again, you're very wrong. I agree that there are plenty of games from "back in the day" that were memorable experiences
But there is some nostalgia factor that plays into that...
There are PLENTY of games from this gen that are great. The average game now is better than the average game back then.

The JRPG scene has moved to handhelds really. FFT: War of the Lions, Tactics Ogre, and Radiant Historia are great games
I stopped playing handheld games when I sold my GBA. Japan needs to start making games for the systems again, I never liked handheld games after GBA. I had the original game boy, GB color and GBA and they were excellent, but when PSP and the DS came out I was like no thanks. Funny thing is that I ended up selling my handhelds too. Maybe it really is the nostalgia that stops me from enjoying newer video games..
Like PSO 2 came out in japan recently but I heard it was for the PC, psp/ps vita, and ipads/iphones.
(I first played it on Dreamcast, then Gamecube, and then on PC on private server SCHTHACK.) Yeah I know it started originally on Sega Master/Sega Genesis then to PC for PSO. But where are the system imports for PSO2 for the new gen series? They have yet to confirm that PSO2 will be coming to the new gens...
Rant time: Speaking of sega, WHERE THE FUK IS SHENMUE 3 and JET SET RADIO/FUTURE 3? FCKIN SONIC DIE ALREADY. /end rant.

Games from the past and present are both good in many ways. If anything, it's the old games that bring us nostalgia of having more fun as a child than an adult. AKA psychology. As a child, we have a blast and our imagination is much better than when we grow older - therefore the classic games are "better" to us, no matter what. Kids now days will say the games they play today are way better than the games 10 years from now. It's just imagination playing it's role.
If you actually compare the story lines, design of the games, controls, menu's, etc. You'll see that they're still very well done, if not better, in today's standards. Yes, graphics play a huge role in the industry, but they always have. I remember when the PS1 and N64 were in the market... My friends and I still talked about graphics ALL the time, along with the gameplay of course. It's really as soon as 3D came into play that graphics were something people started paying attention to.
What I'm getting at is you need to open your mind more, play with a real imagination... imagine yourself as that character - it'll be much harder than when you were younger. If you find a way to immerse yourself in the game, you'll find that many games today are just as good, if not better, than the games in the past.
