Everything wasn't. Not tryna slam it or anything, but nothing in the story stood out at all. The best part of the game was easily the co-op and everything, since that's fun 9 times outta 10, even with mediocre games.

But nothing about Gears of War's story is interesting imo. I don't have in-depth knowledge of what makes a good story so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I still stand by it. I cared for none of the characters, and the plot wasn't driving me forward. I wasn't anxiously waiting for the next sequence or plot twist.

Again all just my opinions, and I'm sure it's pretty clear we have far different tastes :P

I was actually hoping for details in the story itself. Most people who don't like a story to a video game only played one of the games and didn't get the story.

Example "DIABLO 3 STORY IS AWESOME!" --- No it's not. It's absolutely sick and horrible. A joke! If you knew the real story to Diablo, you'd agree with me.

So, did you play all 3 games and read any of the books to know the story? Or just play 1 or 2 of the games?

I'd disagree with that, but there is a lot of truth in what you're saying. I think it's a whole pile of different reasons but w/e

I played and beat the first two, and barely dabbled in the 3rd (I don't have a 360). Never had any interest in the books since I'm not even a fan of the series itself.

Looking at the list more, I wish I'd understood what exactly they were going for :\

At first it seems to be "these are the iconic characters in gaming," until you hit Freeman at 8. He's the least-known out of the Top 10, and really only has popularity amongst the Internet crowd, which would make sense since they're usually the enthusiasts.

But that theory falls apart when you get to 12 - Soap. The hardcore gaming crowd doesn't particularly like Call of Duty, and putting one of the series heroes up at 12 of an "All Time" list obviously wouldn't sit well with them. So...perhaps they're going for just popularity in general? Combining both casual and hardcore audiences?

Again not really. Guybrush Threepwood is even less popular than Freeman I'd say, and Larry Laffer the least popular of all of them.

Then you have the anime choices - Naruto and Goku. Definitely odd to put these guys on the list. Of course, they also add to it all by putting in ASH KETCHUM of all people. They even credit him to Pokemon Red/Green o_0

And of course the order brings up some issues, but what list doesn't?

Overall the list is, imo, very bad. There are way too many big issues, and it seems like they buzzed in a bunch of characters everyone knows, then added in guys like Freeman, Threepwood, or Dante to kind of please the more hardcore crowd and maybe earn some points from them. The list just feels like it doesn't really have a focus, and that not enough time was devoted to it in general. idk.
