A) Black/White 1 pretty much did suck, yeah. Black/White 2 is pretty good. Nowhere near the best but it is pretty good.

B) I give it a (generous) 7 out of 10. Worth playing (and buying now that it's cheap as dirt) but nothing great. I'll be perfectly honest though...If it wasnt FF characters/setting I would probably have given it a 6.

The one problem I had with A2 was the missions. I always felt like there were missions I hadnt done because that board thing was incomplete
