Banjo Kazooie Series

Post by Redhollowlives999 » Sun Dec 16, 2012 8:36 pm

This game is amazingly fun.

Overall my rating is:

Banjo Kazooie: 9.2/10

This game brings such a powerful nostalgia, seeing how its the second game that I ever owned.

The game system and the music is great (although I never really appreciated it when I was a kid), and the graphics were pretty good for its time; appearing very similar to Mario 64's engine. The game was rather simple, Banjo's sister was kidnapped by that old green ball of slime and crap. Banjo and Kazooie's task is to save her by going into the castle and opening the doors in order to ascend the tower. Obtaining jiggies and musical notes in order to assist. And constantly transforming in order to move on and solve puzzles. The last battle is epic; having to use every ability you've learned just to defeat the old hag.

And Wonder wing is in this game; freaking epic. Not to mention how nearly the whole game is a fourth wall destroyer.

Only had a few problems. For one, only 1 transformation was able to attack, and even though its rating said otherwise, I don't think this game is good for kids, seeing how I was afraid of nearly everything that had eerie music and monsters I can't defeat within 5 seconds. Like Mr. Slushie. Screw those things to the the the the.

And if the worlds were bigger, then it would be a perfect 10.

BTW, I'm being extremely bias. But they've been reviewed around the rating I'm giving it, so :P

Banjo Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge (GBA): 5.6/10

This game was okay, wasn't really great, I was never eager to play it after school or anything.

The game sets place in between the first and second game (two months after the first game to be exact). Kungo got tired of all his pushing after you pretty much knock the witch off the tower, and sealing her with a giant rock, so he builds a time machine/robot that the witch enters her soul into to steal Kazooie and goes back in time to stop Banjo from ever metting Kazooie; thus they never defeat her together and it changes the future. Mumbo sends banjo back in time to stop her and save the future Kazooie.

The graphics were okay for a gameboy game, but the actual... everything else.... wasn't so great. The new transformations and the new eggs are pretty cool, but nothing else really stuck out.
I don't remember the final boss battle...

Banjo Tooie: 10/10

Bless the person who came up with this idea; I'm glad they didn't go with their original idea. [Ask if you don't know]

This game was extremely well done, successfully adding a more darker side to the game while still maintain its E Rating. The story takes place 2 years after the plot of the first game.
The graphics was actually amazing for its time, comparing it to its prequel, BK, and taking note of the time period it came out in. The plot was well developed, and it gave veteran players a reason to move on. The new eggs are AMAZING. Its like the difference in power Sora has in Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom hearts 2; just a great boost in power and abilities. The transformations are awesome, each one unique and fun to be in. The music is great, just like the last game. Everyday I wanted to just play this game, and its honestly my favorite of all time (second only to legaia.) There was so much fun levels, you never get bored until you beat everything. (And of course, theres even more fourth wall breaking in this game) :P

No flaws at all.
Nope.

Best part had to be the new eggs and the epic Dragon Kazooie.
AND NOW HOW THE the the the the CAN YOU NOT LOVE THE LONG AWAITED FOR ABILITY: THE SPLIT PAD!

Amazing game. Loved it.

Plus you get to fly UFO's and fight Dinosaurs.... AWESOMENESS

Never played it, seemed like a lame spin-off.

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts: 7.1/10

The long awaited Banjo Threeie.... was kinda a disappointment.

The story takes place in Spiral mountain 8(?) years after the plot of Banjo Tooie. Banjo and Kazooie pretty much pwned old Grunt to nothing but a skull, and thus really don't do much for a few years; they don't really have to anymore. Due to all the inactivity, they (and this is the most annoying part) ended up forgetting all their former abilities, and becoming extremely fat.

After a few years of hopping, Gruntzalot came back (and she starts rhyming again, something she did in the first, and then stopped doing the second for certain reasons.) She hops up to the bear/bird duo and the Witch and Hero go at it again...
Until the Lord of Games, or L.o.G finally said "Funk it." and intervened. He pauses their universe and teleports in--

Screw it, just watch this:

I apologize for the "Commentary" and blarg, just mute it if you want to read the opening dialogue instead of hearing it.

The graphics were alright, you would kinda expect more from Microsoft, but for a BK games it really great, so no complaints here.

The game itself wasn't as great, if anything the best parts were as followed:

-L.o.G referencing nearly every game, from Mario to Killer Instinct 3.
E.g
L.O.G.: Greetings, o second-game characters!.

Banjo W-who are you?

L.O.G.: My title is the Lord of Games, but you has-beens call me L.O.G. I am the grand creator of all video games!"

Kazooie: Even ones that don't sell very well, like Ghoulies?

Gruntilda: Your name is odd and you look a bit querer, so tell old Grunty what brings L.O.G. here?

L.O.G.: I come to settle your differences, cliched crone. You will play a challenge of my choice. To the winner goes Spiral Mountain. To the loser... an eternity of toil in my video game factory!

Gruntilda: This sounds like a preposterous ruse, what'll you do if we refuse?

[L.O.G turns Banjo into a frog and Grunty into a pumkin.]

Banjo: Oh dear...

[L.O.G looks at the player.]

L.O.G.: I wish they could stay like this, but I suppose you people would actually like to take a part in this game.
Now then, in line with Banjo tradition, your challenge will consist of collecting as many pointless objects as possible. Let the Collectathon commence!.

[You play a pointless game, for like 7 seconds.]

No no no, it's all too painful to watch, gamers today don't want all this, they just want to shoot things! But as we're broadening the demographic, I'll have to think of something original. Hmmm. Very well then, failures, listen carefully.

Kazooie: Failures? We've been in several games already!

L.O.G.: But nowhere near as many as that Italian gentleman , correct?

Banjo: He does have a point.

L.O.G.: I will now transport you to a brand new game world, considerably more impressive than anything you've seen before.

Gruntlda: My body's gone but not my eyes, all I see is a pack of lies!

Banjo: Mr. L.O.G., I don't think any of us are really in good enough shape for another adventure.

[L.O.G gives Gruntz a robotic body, similar to her old one, other than the tubing and blargharg. He turns most of Banjo and Kazooie's fat into muscle.]

L.O.G.: Any other requests?

Kazooie: Hey, L.C.D. brain, where are my moves from the previous games?

L.O.G.: You won't needing those. They where rather outdated, anyway.

Gruntilda: Bird was bad in our last game, now it seems she's extra lame!

L.O.G.: Please follow me in those vehicles before I change my mind.

Kazooie: Come on Banjo, grab us the cool-looking one!

Gruntilda: Too slow, loosers. Watch me go! I'll win it this time, I just know!

Banjo: This one looks a bit safer...

Kazooie: No, it looks like a shopping trolley. We'll really look very stupid.
He's freaking epic.

-The new building theme is kinda cool, but its just not for the BK series; its still epic.

-All the Fourth wall breaking shtuff (if I haven't made that clear)

-Banjoland, that place brought back some nostalgia.

Overall the game is kinda bland, I couldn't even bring myself to actually beating the last boss, didn't really see the point... I youtube'd it and moved on.

When treated like its own game, it gets a good 8, or maybe the same score I'm giving it. But when compared to what everybody was hoping for, its a horrible 4.5/10.

The worlds got repetitive.
There was a lack of a true challenge imo.
The boss battles were annoying.
Some weapons required to much readjusting, and then when you think you got an awesome creation, the game asks for something completely different from what you've created.
I admit this gives a game movement (making sure you never get use to 1 thing for too long,)
But come on, after a whole game of that, you kinda just want it to stop. The only true way to avoid the constant change is to create a vehicle that can adjust to any situation; which isn't even remotely possible until the end parts of the game.

I applaud them if annoying me was what they were going for. But regardless of my feelings as a long time fan, I can't call this game horrible. Only good enough for me to do this and not return it behind my mother's back.

If you all have a different opinion, post it.
