And the worst part is, you have to buy it for 24 hours at a time. I'm not going to pay for wireless access for half an hour at the 24 hour per rate.

Probably so it seems like a good deal:

You're only paying $7 for 24 hours of wireless service. But you'll only be able to actually use it for 1-2 of those hours. -facepalm-

It's like those old AOL trial discs back in the day - 1000 hours FREE! (for 40 days).

The 1000 hours sounds like a lot, but even if you used it every hour continuously for the 40 days, you'd still only have 960 hours. It's just a marketing gimmick to make it seem like you're getting more than what you will be able to use.

Funny thing is, if I hadn't been about to board the airplane, I probably would have been able to circumvent the 20 minute limit simply by clearing the browser cookie the network was using to track how much wireless you had. So, I think that by getting the correct cookies cleared off my browser, I could just keep ordering 20 minute batches of wireless and the provider would have been none the wiser. Only reason it took so long to figure that out is because I kept assuming it was IP-based (obviously not; it's routing the wi-fi access via a LAN and proxy server).

Unless they track the mac address and base your usage off that. Then you're screwed unless you have a spoofed mac on your phone (or whatever you're using).

I think it was based on browser cookies though, so by selectively clearing the appropriate cookie, I think that it would have worked.

I know that when I blocked the site from setting cookies altogether, the site constantly thought I was timed out, so I think there is a correlation. If it wasn't that, then I probably was doomed, and wouldn't have known what to do from there.

I can't log on at all when I clear my cookies.

Wouldn't using Chrome's incognito mode simply remedy the whole situation? Assuming your theory is correct.
it really do be like that tho

The problem is that clearing all the cookies makes it impossible for me to do anything.

What I need to do is to find the one cookie that controls the wireless access, and delete just it so the server thinks that I hadn't previously logged in.

Chrome's Incognito mode blocks all incoming and out-going cookies/cache/whatever. Seems like an easier fix.

Or edit the cookie to increase the amount of time before it expires
