They're not. They're vital to humans just as much as any other function in the brain. They're tied to decision-making; if you lack strengh in that region (like some people are through certain conditions), then you can wind up gettin stuff like analysis paralysis; you can't choose something because nothing feels more important or less important than any other option. And obviously there's the evolutionary purposes that aren't truly essential any more since we have beds and junk.

Although you're prolly arguing against the resultant exertion of feeling. Fine. Can't defend that in any way you care for. It is what it is.

You're referring to the natural way of feeling emotions- like prioritizing. That's acceptable, if not again, natural. What's not is how it's overused now a days, like people who take herbs to feel "happy" or who those 12 year olds that cry and cut themselves because their celebrity crush did something like kiss some other celebrity or get arrested.

That's what I figured. Too subjective; kinda pointless to debate that.

Although the drug thing isn't the best example since dopamine is involved; not really in the same realm.

Yeah I just edit it to herbs. Same thing really.

I still think Music isn't as "vital" as people claim it is.

Eh still really subjective and more a personal thing. All I can really say is that music is pretty ingrained in our brains and it's an excellent source of pleasure, not to mention it's strongly sensory-related. Makes as much sense as enjoying certain foods and liking intimate contact.

But if you take it away, you won't die. >___>

Like you won't drop dead. Nearly everything is music around us. We don't need iPods to breathe.
