Argument Thread
Re: Argument Thread
Aight, you didn't really address anything I brought up, even though you worded your statements as if you completely shut all of 'em down. They're also mostly empty statements, and I don't feel like playin' Devil's Advocate anymore.
Wave a Pop-Tart and whistle for me when the next argument comes around.

Re: Argument Thread
You're not necessarily choosing a side here, and your statements are mostly open ended questions, so I provided what answer I saw fit. Sorry if it wasn't on the dot.
it really do be like that tho
Re: Argument Thread
My stance was that I don't care for it, but I also don''t care whether people do it or not. I can understand a good number'a the defenses, and the issue is as layered as any other.

Re: Argument Thread
I actually thought of another reason today:
Maybe some people do it because they genuinely have commitment issues.

Re: Argument Thread
Commitment issues as a reason for piracy? I'm not sure about that. I believe people pirate because they can't (or just don't want to) pay for something.

The world's not that black and white bruh. Some people fall under the gray linings. Also there's an entire rainbow of reasons.GoldenPower89 wrote:Commitment issues as a reason for piracy? I'm not sure about that. I believe people pirate because they can't (or just don't want to) pay for something.
"Hmmm... I wanna buy it but... what if after I buy it I stop liking it? That'd be a dollar wasted on something I'll never listen to (and I can't bring myself to erase it because I bought it)... I don't want to waste money... but I really like this song...."
That's what I mean when I say commitment issues. They want the song but they're afraid of putting in the conscious effort of paying for it when there's always a risk that said money will go to waste.
it really do be like that tho

Re: Argument Thread
Not exactly. Sure, more likely than not, it might just amount to that, but some people who are careful how they spend their money might be genuinely concerned with how practical it'll be to their everyday lives. Like, you don't listen to EVERY song you buy FOREVER. I eventually stop listening to certain tracks after a while, just cuz.GoldenPower89 wrote:So, it's not so much commitment issues as it is cheapness.
