Leveling seru to 9

First thing is first, you need to know how seru exp works. I learned about all I know from this link. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/197766-l ... a/55873106

That shows using a Gimard against a Gilium is only going to get you 2-3 exp out of a maximum 12 for doing 100% of target's health. It also shows using an aoe on only 2 enemies(8 exp if you kill both) isn't as effective as 3(12 exp if you kill both).

The best way to get all magic to level 9 would be to level it as you got it. It's pretty easy and not terribly time consuming but if you wait until later it will pile up. I'm currently leveling a piled up mess but thankfully I've put in about 15 hours and am probably about 50% to the goal. I did however have a playthrough where I got all magic up to Vidna(including both Viguros for Noa and Vahn) and got it to level 9. After fishing for ages for the War God Icon and playing slots forever to get the coin prizes though I was tired of all the grinding for a perfect game and just played normally though, no longer leveling seru as I got them.

The biggest rule of thumb for leveling seru that works in most cases is to level seru in the land you get them. Gimard-Zenoir level in Drake and so on. There are exceptions however such as Vahn's medium level Zenoir is 1HKO 3 enemies in front of Buma. The best thing to do is level really weak magic such as Gimard, Nighto, Gizam and a few others in front of Biron Monastery until they are 9, going in to Biron and eating to restore your mana for free. Then going north of Vidna where 3 enemies appear to level somewhat stronger magic such as Higher level Gizam, Viguro, Swordie, etc. With a bronze book you will constantly get magic leafs which you can use to help your mana or do what I do and save them.(Just pop back to Vidna to use the Inn for much cheaper, virtually free mana restoration). Finally once you are doing about 1600+ damage with your magic, or have it leveled to 9, go to Buma and spam your magic there. The toughest enemy here is Grude with about 1600 health. Pop into Buma for virtually free mana restoration as needed. Another great spot for the strongest of magic, is the Absolute Fortress, right next to the pond you can drink from to restore HP and MP.

I would suggest you equip Spirit Talismans(Reduce mana cost of seru magic by 50%)to everyone to make your mana 200% more effective, possibly farming in Conkram for some magic waters to increase your MP pool, and possibly even magic grails to restore a little bit of mana per in-battle turn. You can get your first Spirit Talisman from Buma fishing and you can get infinite more as an item drop from Iota level 2 towards the back of Absolute Fortress. You can pick up 2 magic grails in the game and also steal, or get one from an enemy in Juggernaut also, although I think they only restore like 10 mp per turn, so they are not extremely useful, especially if you are 1HKO aoe seru magic.

A trick for Vera(Orb and Spoon too at a much lesser extent) is to Equip a health item(Mei's Pendant, Life armband) then heal with Vera since your HP is no longer full, then remove the life enhancing gear. Re-equip the gear again and repeat to level Vera and Orb/Spoon to a lesser degree of success. Horn can only be used in battle so this will not work with it. I think it gains 9 exp per character it heals.(or maybe 3 for a total of 9 if all 3 are healed)

Certain seru level up easier because they hit multiple times, such as Swordie, Mushura, and I believe Juggernaut. Swordie will probably be the easiest to get to level 9. The biggest difficulty of getting all magic to level 9 for a near-perfect playthrough is the amount of time it takes, and the monotony. It will probably take about 30 hours to level everything up effectively. To get all of it including Juggernaut though requires you get to level 99 though so getting all magic will take tons of time also. I imagine getting to level 99 will take anywhere from 70-200 hours depending on the speed and whether or not you get Crimson books etc.

Once I get all magic to level 9 not only will I upload some screenshots but I will also make some videos of max damage seru magic(I want to max my INT for all 3 characters first which will take a ridiculous amount of time but I think I'm determined to do it.)

The results of my experience tend to support these results.

One other interesting phenomenon is that with reasonable INT levels, Vahn's L9 Iota is just powerful enough to have a guaranteed kill on a Lv3 Gilium at the deepest part of the Bio Castle, and I believe it is the lowest MP spell that any character can cast which can do this (at sufficiently high levels, Noa can do so with Slippery, Gilium, and maybe Puera; and Gala should be able to with Slippery and Gilium; because Gala takes such a penalty on casting Dark spells, his Puera spell is really weak.)

Oh, and since it's worth mentioning in this topic, Juggernaut's damage output goes from about 6,500-7,000 at base and maxes out at around 14,000 for a Level 9 spell. So, put another way, yes, you absolutely get what you pay for in this regard.

I finished the remaining Raseru and messaged Marsil79 to see if he wanted the data or if I could use it. Think they said they were trying to finish their guide around Christmas. I could post them here I suppose.

Got ever one for each character but only a 40% are level 9 and for some reason Terra and Ozma won't level up, Terra is at 8 and Ozma is at 7, Vahn's was no problem, lvl 9 easy.

I still think they shoulda allowed Terra and Ozma to go up to lvl 9. They only had Meta go up to it due to the fact you revive more Genesis trees with him.

Bro, been at least 275-400 hours and Vahn is at 95, Noa is at 87, and Gala is at 85. Good luck, it takes about 10,000,000 XP for level 99.

Also, along with Juggernaut, you have to get Jedo, Horn, Mule etc. to level 9 and those take hours to get to level 9.

I've gotten my characters to level 99 2 times now, don't think it takes anywhere close to 400 hours, even 275 sounds a bit high. Hard to tell anyway since clock stops at 99 hours. My file where I got Int/attack and maybe a few other stats to 999 probably took me 300++ hours but sad thing is I reformatted my comp so that save file is gone *cries*

By my count, I'd say it'd take the average grinder anywhere between 120-200 hours to reach level 99.
