Let's clone Legend of Legaia.

Post by K73SK » Mon Aug 18, 2014 9:20 am

So I was thinking last night, why don't we remake it? Not on a large scale to where we make a profit on it, but rather make it freeware as a fan-base. Of course, there are legalities in it which we need to follow.

So what we would need is someone who can show they're a 3D artist (not a beginner, but rather someone who could make some pretty nice 3D models). Additionally, we need an audio artist to remake the music and sounds (illegal to copy them from the game for a clone game). Finally, we need to come up with a name for the clone that's similar, but obviously not the same. In other words, "Legaia" cannot be in the title.

There are more aspects to it that I'm researching, but overall, we can definitely make a clone legally. And it'd be rather easy to do with Unity. So I need recruits! People who are willing to work on this project for no profit whatsoever. Only for the fact that they're major fans and would be willing to do it on their free time.

Who's interested? Note that I don't need story writers, designers, etc. because the game itself is already made and we don't need that. We only need people who can program, create 3D and 2D art, and the sounds/music. And of course, experience in Unity is a huge plus (and requirement for programmers).

As far as 3D artists, we have none of those (except for Cheese). And for Music, Cheese as also made several remixes of Legaia tracks (and they sound amazing), so if you want to talk to him, msg him on FB or something.
it really do be like that tho

Unfortunately, I'm not much of an artist. I'm an idea man. Since you don't need writers, I will do you the honor of playing it.

I don't think concept art is too necessary considering it's just a clone. Basically, we'd just need the 3D artists to look over the game that already exists and just "upgrade" the graphics.

3D artists need concept artist to know what they're doing; I understand that Legaia already has plenty of usable models, but other than the 3 PCs, all the other enemies, or really any NPC who's active in combat, no NPC has any REAL detail to them; making 3D art a lil harder cuz you're basically just drawing blank faces.

Eh, most 3D artists are already concept artists so whatevs. Do what y'all think is right; you have more experience with this stuff after all.

I understand where you're coming from, don't worry. And it makes complete sense. But typically, 3D artists can also draw and have strong visual skills. So the fact we have 3D models in the game already to represent the characters (including cinematics), it shouldn't be hard for a 3D modeler to come up with something in this situation.

If you all go through with this, please makes the summons skipable. While I love the animation, I'd rather not have to sit through the same 40-second summon 100+ times.
