Stat maxing

Post by Sephirothansylar » Wed Mar 19, 2014 11:20 pm

Here are my tests on leveling up to 2 for stat maxing

ATK UDF LDF SPD INT AGL HP MP
26 20 16 23 13 103 220 28
28 18 15 22 12 103 223 27
27 19 14 23 12 104 218 28
27 18 14 23 13 104 219 26
26 18 14 23 11 102 224 26
26 19 16 23 11 103 223 28

With such small differences Im not sure it's even worth maxing a certain stat/stats. Does anyone else max stats? If I were to max one stat it would probably have to be INT seeing as how hard it is to farm waters for it or impossible after a certain point in the game I believe. AGL will max naturally, It would take at least 3 or 4 levels to equal an HP water and MP is easy to increase with water. ATK is the easiest to increase by water imo. SPD hardly varies and the water can be farmed albeit slowly. Defense can be farmed at the very end also not easy but doable.

Also the reason I did this was to see if with stat maxing, life armband, mei's pendant, and maybe some HP water farming I could reach 9,999 HP and pass it if there isn't a cap. Anyone know for sure if there is a 10k HP cap? Has anyone reached that much health?

I would assume that the game automatically caps your health at 9999, since I've seen people use cheating devices and their health would be at 9999. There's this guy on Youtube who used the Playstation Emulator Cheater program to input Gameshark codes for LoL and he maxed out Vahn's health to 9999 to test out various enemy moves.

I don't really think it's worth maxing stats. With the right accessories, you can go through the game at pretty low levels. Also, I really don't have the patience to farm waters in a game I can easily beat.

I've beaten the game at level 25, and I don't think it's possible to do it at any level lower just because the boss EXP and other forced encounters (Pueras in Zora's Castle, Kemaro in Ratayu, Golem mini-boss) will get you to that point.

The easiest water to farm (by far) is Power Water, because it is a drop from the Ironman enemy on Mt. Dhini, unlike every other water, which is only obtainable via steal.

After further testing I have come to a conclusion- I believe that the general stats (ATK-AGL) can increase randomly 2-4 per level health by 36-44 per level and mana by approximately 6-8 per level. If anyone has a High level they could probably test to see if their character falls within this range or maybe at higher levels the stat bonus you get increases. I have a level 11 that falls within all of these ranges might turn on my ps2 and check out my level 70 somethings to see if they also fall in that range. If it doesn't change then I'd have to say it's definitely not worth worrying about it, such small differences.

Update: I checked my level 69 characters and they are slightly above the maximum stat bonus which makes me think it must increase if only slightly in the higher levels. I can't do any exact math since my data is on Vahn and my level 69 Vahn is severely corrupted by stat waters. Hopefully someone finds this helpful even though it's obviously not extremely important.

There are a couple of things to note about this from my observations.

First, the rate of growth of HP and MP does start increasing as more levels are gained; you will be gaining 100+ HP per level as you get into the 40's. I believe but am not certain that this also applies to other stats.

Secondly, the rate of growth of all stats falls 75% when you advance beyond level 50. So, while you might gain 6 ATK and 140 HP going from level 49 to 50, you are likely to gain around 2 ATK and 37 HP going from level 50 to 51.

Here's some higher level Stat maxing. Only did 3 paradigms but it still seems pointless even in the 30's. The difference between the stats is usually either the same or 1-2 point different and now that waters can be farmed that's just a waste of time but I will check later on again also.

Update: 50+ Just Sucks! Screenshot shows what I'm talking about :/
50-51 gave 0 ATK and like 30 HP...and sub par other stats...

Another update. Level 52->53. 5 different branches(Picture was too wide so only 3, but the difference is quite small so no big deal). Probably last post I'll make. The stat variance is very small, usually just 1 point different. Seems you get about 2-3 points on average per level I assume from 50-100. About 30 HP and 4 MP. I will try to pay attention and see if this changes at higher levels.

Ah I'm so sorry for not seeing this thread. I apparently figured this out some time ago before I disappeared. XD I started to play around with stats this weekend and found some notes I took...I had it all figured out!! Why did I forget that??

Seph, you're right, here are the stat gains at Level 1 to 2.
HP: +36-44
MP: +6-8
Agl,Str,Udf,Ldf,Spd,Int: +2-4

And your consensus is right too, the stat growth is different for each level. Without going into too much detail, the game has a table for a base stat number to lookup for every level. The number doesn't mean much by itself, because it's used in a large formula, but you can at least see the increase and diminishing returns:

0x50,0x52,0x54,0x56,0x58,0x5a,0x5c,0x5e,0x60,0x62,0x64,0x66,0x68,0x6a,0x6c,0x6e,
0x70,0x72,0x74,0x76,0x78,0x7a,0x7c,0x7e,0x80,0x82,0x84,0x86,0x88,0x8a,0x8c,0x8e,
0x90,0x92,0x94,0x96,0x98,0x9a,0x9c,0x9e,0xa0,0xa2,0xa4,0xa6,0xa8,0xaa,0xac,0xae,
0xb0,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,
0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,
0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,0x40,
0x40,0x40

Without knowing hex, you can see that it increases steadily +2 each level until 50, it goes down to a flat 0x40 all the way up until level 99. In the third row, you can see level 49 has 0xb0, then turns to 0x40 which are less. Maybe they thought around that level it was too easy, so they slowed the stat gains?

Anyway the increases start to go up because of this, as early as level 4. At level 4, your Atk can go up +3-5.
For reference, at level 30 your stats go up +5-7.

And to second Sephiroth's expiriments, behold the different of leveling up to 49 and 50:
49 to 50
HP: +86-94
MP: +15-17
AGL: +3-5
ATK: +7-9
UDF: +7-9
LDF: +6-8
SPD: +6-8
INT: +7-9

50-51
HP: +28-36
MP: +4-6
AGL: +0-2 (Agility is usually maxed by now anyway)
ATK: +2-4
UDF: +2-4
LDF: +1-3
SPD: +1-3
INT: +1-3

Also, here are the theoretical stat ranges at Level 99 without stat waters:

HP: 4547-5331
MP: 729-925
AGL: 280 (game hard limit, otherwise 207-403)
ATK: 349-545
UDF: 335-531
LDF: 259-455
SPD: 269-465
INT: 274-470

Are there different growth rates for Vahn, Noa, and Gala for each stat? It seems like Gala grows his HP faster than Noa or Vahn do, by at least 10-15%. If they all had identical growth rates, that wouldn't be the case, so there seems to be something more to it than that.

Oh gosh, forgive my incompetence! I totally forgot to post those, plus I read my notes wrong. Yes, everything above was for Vahn. The large table above is actually a part of three tables. Now this is kinda weird, and may be an blunder on the game designers. The three tables are the same for each character. The different stats use different tables such as the first table is HP,MP,ATK,UDF & LDF. The second table is for Agility.

That would make sense, except that SPEED is the only exception. Speed uses 1 of the 3 tables based on character. Vahn uses the first table, Noa the second, and Gala the third. I'll re-sum and paste the tables here.

HP,MP,ATK,UDF,LDF, and Vahn SPD:
0x50, 0x52, 0x54, 0x56, 0x58, 0x5a, 0x5c, 0x5e, 0x60, 0x62, 0x64, 0x66, 0x68, 0x6a, 0x6c, 0x6e,
0x70, 0x72, 0x74, 0x76, 0x78, 0x7a, 0x7c, 0x7e, 0x80, 0x82, 0x84, 0x86, 0x88, 0x8a, 0x8c, 0x8e,
0x90, 0x92, 0x94, 0x96, 0x98, 0x9a, 0x9c, 0x9e, 0xa0, 0xa2, 0xa4, 0xa6, 0xa8, 0xaa, 0xac, 0xae,
0xb0, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40,
0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40,
0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40,
0x40, 0x40

Agility and SPD for Noa:
0x6d, 0x6f, 0x71, 0x73, 0x75, 0x77, 0x79, 0x7b, 0x7d, 0x7f, 0x81, 0x83, 0x85, 0x87, 0x89, 0x8b,
0x8d, 0x8f, 0x91, 0x93, 0x64, 0x66, 0x68, 0x6a, 0x6c, 0x6e, 0x70, 0x72, 0x74, 0x76, 0x78, 0x7a,
0x7c, 0x7e, 0x80, 0x82, 0x84, 0x86, 0x88, 0x8a, 0x8c, 0x8e, 0x90, 0x92, 0x94, 0x96, 0x98, 0x9a,
0x9c, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40,
0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40,
0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40,
0x40, 0x40

* This table is weird for agility, it dips down at Level 22 and starts climbing back up again. Must be for balancing adjustments

SPD for Gala:
0x3c, 0x3e, 0x40, 0x42, 0x44, 0x46, 0x48, 0x4a, 0x4c, 0x4e, 0x50, 0x52, 0x54, 0x56, 0x58, 0x5a,
0x5c, 0x5e, 0x60, 0x62, 0x64, 0x66, 0x68, 0x6a, 0x6c, 0x6e, 0x70, 0x72, 0x74, 0xa7, 0xa9, 0xab,
0xad, 0xaf, 0xb1, 0xb3, 0xb5, 0xb7, 0xb9, 0xbb, 0xbd, 0xbf, 0xc1, 0xc3, 0xc5, 0xc7, 0xc9, 0xcb,
0xcd, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40,
0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40,
0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40,
0x40, 0x40

The second table (for agility) grows slower and the third table (Gala's speed) grows slow at first but quicker later on. Since these tables are for stats and no individual characters, the game uses a different table to determine growth rates per character. These values look like their starting stat, and their average maximum, so it can determine the increase based on where you are in levels.

Stat - Vahn | Noa | Gala
HP - 180-5000 | 150-4500 | 210-5300
MP - 20-900 | 10-750 | 40-1000 (yes 1000)
AGL - 100-280 | 120-300 | 80-270
SPD - 19-470 | 30-500 | 15-425
ATK - 24-465 | 20-440 | 30-490
UDF - 16-425 | 12-400 | 43-450
LDF - 13-425 | 12-450 | 20-480
INT - 15-450 | 9-400 | 20-480

Between those two, it does a calculation on increase. I also discovered they have this table out of order a bit. Most times Speed is last, but on this table, speed is after agility. So my stats above are probably incorrectly marked; let me fix that...

Vahn Max
HP 4547-5331 (Avg. 4939)
MP 729-925 (Avg. 827)
AGL 222-418 (Avg. 320)

ATK 343-539 (Avg. 441)
UDF 263-459 (Avg. 361)
LDF 262-458 (Avg. 360)
INT 274-470 (Avg. 372)

Noa
HP 4053-4837 (Avg. 4445)
MP 626-822 (Avg. 724)
AGL 244-440 (Avg. 342)
SPD 367-563 (Avg. 465)
ATK 276-472 (Avg. 374)
UDF 248-444 (Avg. 346)
LDF 279-475 (Avg. 377)
INT 238-434 (Avg. 336)

Gala
HP 4853-5637 (Avg. 5245)
MP 852-1048 (999) (Avg. 950)
AGL 210-406 (Avg. 308)
SPD 262-458 (Avg. 360)
ATK 362-558 (Avg. 460)
UDF 290-486 (Avg. 388)
LDF 252-448 (Avg. 350)
INT 352-548 (Avg. 450)
