My line keeps breaking, otherwise, it's too easy.

Release the buttons when the tension bar gets 3/4 full. Continue reeling when it empties. Take note that your tension bar will increase very slowly while the fish's heath is restoring. This is a good time to hold square and X until the fish's health stops restoring.

The fish gets too far away and it breaks, sorry, wasn't being specific, and every once in a great while, I'll hook a fish and the line breaks within 1 sec, just tapping makes the bar go all the way up, and if you don't tap, then it goes too far and breaks. I'm thinking it could be the Spirit Fish that does that.

I've had that happen. Only cast out at about 70%. As mentioned before, hold both square and X while health is restoring. Hold them both down when the fish has no health as well. Keep a constant eye on that tension gauge.
