Sure, but... what's IRC?

A chat channel a lot of people prefer over forums. Basically a place where we could get a large live community instead of relying on them to have to register just to use the shoutbox.

In other words, it's the shoutbox but for anyone who wants to join the channel.

I've suggested that SO MANY TIMES. Along with the guest posts iirc.


Yeah, no; at least for now. I don't need bots ruining things. Also there really IS no point if that's all. I was guessing it was like a private IM box for two users who just want to talk but don't wanna PM (CUZ I ALSO SUGGESTED THAT SO IT'S MY IDEA).

The IRC channel wouldn't be part of the forums in any way. It's separate from the website and hosted by another server.

An extra place to complain about my problems? Sure, I'm up for that. My only worry is that we'd run into a lot of spambots.

Any way to "Shut it off" incase some users just don't want to deal with it? A simple toggle option can fix all this and eliminate the need for a poll.

I'll make the channel only useful for those who have registered with the nickserv for freenode. And there's not really a big spam issue to worry about. I use IRC often for unity3d and have never seen a spam bot before.

And of course, mods+ will be able to kick and ban users.

Well because the structure looks pretty sound, I'll change that answer to yes/neutral for now. You can fill me in on the whole banhammer stuff later I suppose.
